Just pointing out that those wishing to take action, yeah or nay, can pick their weapon. I will be calling my legislators and letting them know that I do not want it repealed but improved.

(95,337 posts)I mean a long time ago petiions used to mean something. A group of people would take it to the street to get people involved and in the know about what needed fixing in this country.
These online petitions are a joke. I refuse to sign any of them.

That's the real reason they put these together...

(22,308 posts)Between the 2.5 million Americans between the ages of 18 and 26 who are now covered on their parent's policies and the seniors who had fallen into the "doughnut hole" now receiving additional help with drug costs repealing the law is political suicide. They, and their families and friends, will blame the Republicans for stripping benefits to protect the insurance companies' profits.
In round numbers, polls have approval of the law as written at ~50%. Of the ~50% who don't approve of the law as written you have ~20% (of which I am one) who disapprove of the law because it doesn't go far enough and ~30% who think it went to far or want no reform at all. This leaves us with roughly a 70-30 split when it come to reforming health care.
The SCOTUS case is even better.
If they repeal the entire law the outrage from that 70% will lead to a huge win for Democrats this fall.
If they uphold the entire law it will be seen as a clean win for President Obama and only the ~30% will be upset about it.
If they overturn the mandate as a stand alone clause we win big. The insurance companies will throw a fit and demand that something be done to protect their profits. It is my hope that this leads to a public option to cover those who chose to not purchase for profit health care insurance. It may even lead to some watered down form of single payer.
If this is the Huckabee group, I think he is just cashing in while he can. Once the Supreme Court rules on this the game changes.
