2. I was actually just looking at prices for Comcast Xfinity internet....

...because I have Verizon DSL for my phone and internet and the internet speed is TERRIBLE! I'm looking at a "Triple Play" option and right now it looks like there would be an overall cost savings, even after the 12 month deal is up.

Anyone have any comments on Comcast Xfinity internet service?

3. Friends of mine in FLA had their whole Phone, Cable, Internet Go Down with ATT/U-Verse!

They hated to give up their "Land Line" but decided to take the ATT Package. They were out for Days and Hubbie is Salesman who needs E-Mail Contacts and Wife is Private School Teacher at International School who has kids E-Mailing day and night along with their wealthy Foreign Parents....and both were unable to do their jobs because of the Melt Down.

4. A temporary solution to boost speed with DSL

When I was with one DSL service, there were really slow DNS servers. So the page was slow to start loading but decently fast once it started. You can fix this by configuring your computer to use Verizon backbone DNS servers (4.2.2.5) or Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8)

I use wireless connection in my home and it's always fast for $60\month including a landline

9. I was on dialup...

I was on dialup until three years ago. I currently pay about the same as I did then (and for ten years previous), but now for high-speed access. Perhaps my case, then, is unusual, but it all still feels fast enough to me. But I can understand the problem related in the article. I guess I'm responding to the thread title rather than the content at the link, with my personal experience. Umm.

10. Early Summer, we are getting Google Fiber.

For not much more than we are paying for supposedly 5 megs, AT&T U-verse. The speed jumps around a lot sometimes.
I can hardly wait to drop them.
