Fox "News" Opinion Piece hints at coming Civil War between "Makers" / "Takers"

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/01/03/were-now-one-step-closer-to-america-coming-civil-war

But soap opera dramatics about fiscal "cliffs" and sequestration shouldn’t deflect from where President Obama is really taking this country. Consider this story from the Wall Street Journal a few days before Christmas:

“Thousands of people in several Argentine cities ransacked supermarkets for a second day in the latest challenge to President Chistina Kirchner, who is struggling to revive a weak economy...In the central city Rosario, two people were killed during the incidents and 137 people arrested.

“The violence puts Mrs. Kirchner in a difficult position as the poor are core constituents...Her government spends billions of dollars a year to help low income families, including free health care... Argentine activists who claim to represent the poor traditionally block access to supermarkets in the month of December to demand free food and other items...The latest events were some of the worst acts of looting and vandalism in years.... Local media showed dozens of men, women, and children hauling away televisions, refrigerators, and food.”

Some have said my warnings about a coming civil war between makers and takers are exaggerated. It’s true that Argentina’s politicians have been waging class warfare since Juan and Eva Peron–and they aren’t fazed when it turns bloody. Obama and the Democrats are relative newcomers to the game. But Argentina reveals who really suffers when those who create a nation’s wealth get mugged by those who spend it–as just happened this week in Washington.

1. It's a common theme among the extreme rightwingers.

They feel so helpless. Their views are being scorned, and they cannot seem to get a significant number of their candidates elected to relevant posts.

So, they issue threats. They start petitions for secession. The talk about their guns and their willingness to use them.

The emasculation of the extremists is now obvious to everyone, including them.

5. Exactly.

It's impotent rage. They are a bunch of cowards throwing a temper tantrum like a 2 year old. They would be soiling underwear and hiding under their beds if anything close to a conflict got started.

11. I read a report from (I think) the DOD

a while back voicing the worry about climate change in the future and the societal disruption it will incur. I think we could see a real mess when you realize that the most liberal areas are the coasts and conservative the middle of the country. Millions of people migrating to areas where there is no infrastructure to accommodate them cannot end well at least in the short term. I think I will be long gone by then but I hope the ptb start the planning for this early.

on edit, I just read the complete article and what a load of crap. Esp this line, "Yet as an economic and social enterprise, government creates nothing.". The government supports a huge MIC for one example.

13. Chris Christy won't just come out and say it, but he has hinted strongly that blue states

support red states and the when blue states have a massive crisis, helping them ISN'T charity, it is giving back a tiny fraction of what blue states send out over decades.

4. The RW needs to be called on their BS

and it is simple too....Pres gets on TV and says the right can have some US Owned land and form their own nation. Those who want to leave for the new RW paradise just have to sign up and we will send them on their merry way to form a new nation.

Diego Garcia would be a great place for a new RW Country

6. So these knuckle dragging trogladytes

That are faux's target audience, consider to themselves to be makers??.........Aside from nonsense and widespread grief and misery, what exactly do they make?......My neighbor is one of these teabag,Gov hating, gun happy mouth breathers....I see him TAKING a government disability check every month while he TAKES cash money for tree trimming and yardwork...I see him TAKING medical care,on the States dime, for himself and his family, according to what his wife tells my wife....I see him TAKING advantage of Social Security and Medicare, for his widowed mother, who lives with them.....All I ever see him MAKING,is a big stink about how bad it is that lowlifes live off the government and don't pay their own way,in spite of him doing exactly that......

These are the "makers" who want civil war and think they can overthrow the Government??.....

Uh...OOOOOOOKAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY......

*ETA*

This guy rails against any kind of social/safety net programs, like the very ones he LIVES off of and wants them shut down to "save uhmerka.".....And to that end he votes for the Pols who swear they'll make it so......

15. We should give them their "own" country and sit back and watch them shoot each other when

they recognize that they have been sent to a country of losers.

7. Exactly backwards

The people who are being mugged are the majority, not the wealthy. It's no different here. If there's a war it'll be because of RW policies. But I doubt that scenario. More likely we're being pushed towards a renewed understanding of the power of many united. Labor unions didn't rise in a vacuum, after all.

14. There's 146 million people in this country working

...and plenty more looking for jobs. That doesn't leave too much room for stay-at-home moms and dads (one of the more important roles in any society), children, students, retirees, etc. The whole thing about "takers" in this country is utter BS.

Everyone I know either works, is trying to find a job, is studying toward a job, or is taking care of people. Or spent their life working, and is enjoying a well-earned retirement.
