There should be an EQUIVALENT income tax cut for lower paid workers so that the poor and middle class don't get a huge tax hike.

Remember, your employer pays 7.5% (thats 7.5% less money that you would otherwise get), and you will now pay 7.5% directly from your paycheck, so the combined amount will now be 15% instead of 13%. This is a pretty steep additional tax and especially for many of us who will not see these benefits until 30+ years and that's if it even survives at all.

It will be those who make close to the $110,000 limit on FICA withholding.

The poor/lower middle probably saw a few dollars per week.

That was one of the original criticisms of that tax break when it replaced the "Making Work Pay" credit, as a stimulus it was targeted at the wrong end of the scale due to it relying on the progressive nature of a payroll tax.

Assuming that we agree on taxing the rich, we should not lose sight of our budget priorities, but bitching about absolutely everything tends to get us nothing.

#1 CUT DEFENSE. Then I hope we invest in infrastructure and national health care, e.g. http://www.pnhp.org/ (HR 676 Expanded & Improved Medicare for All is linked on that frontpage, btw), and education.

http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/blaming-ron-paul-people-for-romneys.html

Blaming Ron Paul people for Romney's massive defeat Updated 12/22

The Primaries started out with the war cry "Anyone but Romney".
So why did you (and unfortunately me) end up with him?
You got screwed.
You got screwed by Reince Priebus, Fox News, RNC, GOP establishment, John McCain, Karl Rove, Bill Kristol, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Dick Cheney, Rupert Murdoch and the rest of the neocons.
And anyone else in the Republican Establishment that endorsed Romney.
They picked Romney.
Blame the Republican Establishment and Fox News.

You got screwed by yourselves because you didn't bother to find out about Romney and didn't campaign against him.
Ordinary GOP voters, activists and lower level office holders should wake up and be more informed.
It is your extreme ignorance that caused Romney to be nominated.
It is your extreme ignorance about the carnage that Romney would bring to America, that is the problem.

Blame your apathy.
For heavens sake, you didn't even force Romney to disclose his tax returns prior to 2010 - how stupid was that?
Blame yourselves.

Obama is an extremely weak candidate.
Unemployment is currently at levels where historically an incumbent wouldn't stand a chance.
But Romney is getting slaughtered - currently around 4 to 5% down in swing states.
Because Romney is an even worse candidate with an even worse track record than Obama and nobody likes him.

It will get worse for Romney before November 6th, very little has so far been aired about him, when it is - Independent voters will switch off in droves.
Republicans should have picked someone else.
Almost anyone else would have done better than Romney.

Election Prediction
Obama 347 Romney 191
Romney to get 40 to 41% of the popular vote. Update 12/22 I got this one wrong, but not a lot else. I didn't take account that Obama didn't want to win too big, so that he could still blame Republicans for his failed policies after his win. When Obama got too far ahead in the polls, he deliberately threw the first debate. Obama never used the best ammunition he had on Romney so that he didn't win too big. U6 unemployment is at 15%, the 2012 election should have been a slam dunk win for the Republicans - that is what everybody was expecting in 2011. It would of been if they had nominated a half decent candidate - they would of taken Obama's abysmal record apart.
It is increasingly likely that Republicans will lose control of the House.
Democrats WILL control the Senate.

Get angry at them for screwing you.
Get angry at yourselves for not being more informed.
Get ANGRY that Obama will be re-elected and will be able to pass legislation that we don't want.

Learn from it, so WE don't get screwed again next time.

It is no good trying to blame Ron Paul people, most of them only joined the Republican Party in order to be able to vote for Ron Paul.
Most were Independents or not interested in politics, before they became interested in Ron Paul.
They were never going to vote for Mitt Romney in a MILLION years.
Become more informed about Ron Paul supporters, here's a quick 1 page guide.
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/wake-up-call-to-republican-party.html

In fact you should be APOLOGIZING to Ron Paul supporters.
Ron Paul supporters did do extensive research on Romney.
I know of one Newt supporter that did also.
And that was about it, I don't know anyone that did ANY other research on Romney.
N.B. Romney was not vetted at all in the primaries by the other candidate campaigns.
He could get away with this because he had at least three times as much cash as anyone else, total Fox News bias for him and the GOP Establishment on his side.
He bullied the other candidates into not attacking him in any meaningful way, otherwise he would put out multiple slanders and "ruin them".
E.G. Newt Gringrich SuperPac produced a very powerful ad about Damon Corp (owned by Bain) and massive medicare fraud.
But this only ran for about the 3 days before the Florida vote.
And then was mysteriously withdrawn.
Carl Cameron (of Fox News) knew about the ad, but tweeted "powerful ad out by Newt could spell trouble" and "we are trying to suppress the story until after the vote".
It was a stupid thing to tweet - I have a screen shot of the second one (Carl Cameron deleted his stupid tweets shortly after he posted them).

Not only did Ron Paul supporters research Mitt Romney and how bad a candidate he would turn out to be, we warned you about him, but you didn't listen.
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/message-to-gop-incumbents-and.html
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/the-case-against-mitt-romney.html

You should be APOLOGIZING to Ron Paul supporters for the massive Republican defeat and BLAMING YOURSELVES.

Obama WANTED Romney to be nominated, he had been preparing for Romney for over a year, he KNEW he could easily beat him.
Obama didn't put out any meaningful Romney attack ads prior to Tampa.
He didn't want to stop the Republicans from nominating Romney.

If you think I am being crazy by saying that Ron Paul WOULD definitely have beaten Obama, as you no doubt will.
You should read these two articles.
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/ron-pauls-case-for-nominee.html
http://ian56.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/why-only-ron-paul-can-beat-obama.html

Update 12/22
Remember this post when 2016 comes around. Independent voters don't like reckless spending warmongering neocons. George Bush went out with a 34% approval rating. 70% of Romneys advisers were ex Bush staffers. If the Republican party put up another reckless spending neocon in 2016 they will lose again. A reckless spending neocon cannot accuse a Democrat of being a reckless spender with any credibility. Don't get conned again, when the Republican Establishment try to nominate another neocon, as they surely will.
