Southern Baptist publisher recalls pink Bibles

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_PINK_BIBLES?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2011-12-15-10-37-40

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The Southern Baptist Convention's publishing division is recalling pink Bibles, saying some of the money raised through their sale was being given to Planned Parenthood.

LifeWay Christian Resources no longer markets the pink-bound version of the Holman Christian Standard Bible and is recalling copies it sold, according to The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/u90K40 ).

A portion of the purchase price went to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The Komen foundation issued a statement in which it said all proceeds from the Bible sales were going to breast cancer screenings and expressed disappointment in LifeWay's decision.

4. It just isn't the right color for a so-called "RELIGIOUS" text. Seems wrong.

I'm not into pink cars either - just hasn't been a good color for me. But I do like yellow and I've been teased for that for decades.

If you're thinking "gay/anti-gay", forget it. I'm not that way.

I just didn't understand why you injected "gay" into your comment when nothing about the article is "Gay".

9. Probably just general association (ribbins, triangles, etc.)

I've got a purple strip of cloth on the walking stick I took from College Park, MD on my march to DC for the 20th Anniversary March of Martin Luther King Jr. It is faded and tattered, but it is still on my stick and I use that walking stick frequently. There is an association, self-imposed, but that has nothing to do with my bias against the color. I think it is more based on women from 30 years ago with 2" fake nails coated in multiple layers of bright pink nail polish -
