Hopefully it doesn't take as that much longer to get a right to see a doctor.

We treat our criminals better than the average citizen at times.

I live near the Canadian border and my Canadian friends, while acknowledging their system isn't perfect, are often aghast at our non-system and consider it "barbaric" how so many in this country take pride in maintaining such a non-system. After all, we're a-keepin' them commies who want socialist medicine, death panels and other Marxist shit out of the good ole' USA!

Increasingly I feel that the only MEANINGFUL health care change is going to come by people just finally getting fed up and refusing to pay the exorbitant costs, insurance premiums, etc. The non-system will collapse, and a new, just (single-payer) system can be built in its place. After all, the courts don't have the resources to handle what they've got now, let alone a flood of unpaid medical bills turned over to them by hospital administrators.

As much as I admire President Obama for the ACA, which is a hell of a lot better than the status quo, I wish he would have pushed for single-payer and not caved to Max Baucus on the public option. There was no way he was going to get any GOP support, so why not go for the whole enchilada?
