LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - More than 48,000 people have signed a petition that they posted on the White House website demanding that British CNN talk show host Piers Morgan be deported over comments he made on air about gun control.
Morgan last week lambasted pro-gun guests on his show, after the December 14 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where a gunman shot dead 26 people, including 20 children.
"We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens," the petition said.
The petition, started on December 21 by a man identified as Kurt N. from Austin, Texas, accuses Morgan of subverting the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right to bear arms

(89,248 posts)isn't the reason those rights were given because they are seen as what is right, just. something people everywhere should have.
they aren't even saying he should be deported for contributing to our elections or anything like that.
they just don't like him criticizing them so he should be deported .

(22,336 posts)The constitution uses the word "citizen" when it means citizen and "person" when it means person.
I'm sure Ron Paul isn't the only one who erroneously thinks that.

just look at the comments, they have nothing to do with guests, it all guns & insults.

his Twitter feed, is a constant barrage of constant hate & abuse 24/7.
In the past I've personally thought of Piers as a bit of a pompous ass, but have change my feelings when he started to speak about banning assault weapons. I'm relieved their are people in the media who are speaking out, and can't help feel sorry for them because of the constant attacks.

(14,737 posts)He's still a pompous arse. Just a pompous arse who happens to hold views about gun control that are considered common sense in the UK, even if such views are anathema to many Americans what with the 2nd Amendment and all that.
Also, a large part of the abuse he gets on Twitter comes whenever he's moaning about football. I think even Arsenal fans are embarassed by his pining over Robin Van Persie.

(10,893 posts)whatever happened about the Constitution and everyone being guaranteed the right to free speech? I thought you guys followed the Constitution so much. Don't tell me the 1st amendment only applies to people who agree with you.

(113,284 posts)there about speaking out against one of the amendments. perhaps you ought to try reading it, and become acquainted with, oh, let's say, the FIRST amendment? you know, the one guaranteeing freedom of speech? yes, morans, that even means people who do not agree with you.
on the other hand, I hereby propose a petition to deport all the morans signing that petition, because they are clearly too stupid to be allowed to remain in this countryl and I think it is very nice of them to provide us with such a handy, easily-accessible list. makes our jobs sooooo much easier.

There are two very good reasons for this. Firstly, the first amendment.
Second and the more important point. No one in the UK wants him back.
Actually there is a third. It will be hilarious to see how loads of angry Americans react.
