but I doubt it. I can't remember ever being more horrified, but I know enough not to project my feelings onto others.
I fully expect our schools to turn into armed camps. People are easy to manipulate when they're scared and they want immediate "solutions".
I think about the schools my son attended when he was little; tiny rural schools with relaxed happy atmospheres and I try to imagine armed guards and locked doors and I just want to cry.

I think this shows how out of touch these gun nuts are.
More guns are part of the problem not part of solution.

(3,182 posts)All exterior doors are locked except the front door. At the door is the office, and in the high school, a receptionist.
We have UNARMED School Resource Officers who are members of the Sheriff's Dept. DARE group. Their sole task is drug interdiction.
I live in a large, rural county which is a bedroom community of Atlanta.
Lots and lots of armed crazy right wing nuts around here. Yes, Newtown could happen here. Easily.
But, I do NOT believe the solution is armed guards at our schools.
