Misleading headline at CNN: truth is their poll shows 87% favor some gun restrictions!

Headline says a bare majority support "major restrictions" on gun ownership. But add in those who said they favor minor restrictions, and others who would ban all guns except for police, and you have a whopping 87% poled by CNN favor some restrictions on guns in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shootings:

Please share this information widely.

Interesting that in our area, there is a conservative Tea Party mayor (Santee, CA) who is now saying our founding fathers never envisioned semi-automatic weapons and that while he supports the 2nd amendment he is rethinking what kinds of guns we should be able to own. His community was the site of the Santana High School massacre some years ago. If even Mayor Voepel is coming to accept restrictions on these types of weapons, public opinion truly has seen a significant shift.

In his defense (for the gun nuts) he is a common sense conservative.

Oh and I would disagree on him being tea party.

about an even split. There are currently some 10,000 (IIRC) federal restrictions on firearms...I suspect those saying they support "minor restrictions on owning guns" are content with the existing laws for the most part.
