(47,953 posts)This whole thing really has overwhelmed me. I was in the audience watching my Daughter sing in a Holiday pageant in her school about the time this happened.
FailureToCommunicate
(14,014 posts)overwhelmed, as you say. I sure was. There have been a few "oh god" moments as we waited to hear about our kids' safety as they grew up, but nothing like this. I saw the the lingering emptiness and hidden pain of loosing a child in my parents...
I pray we never have to find out for ourselves.
P.S. Your postings of toons really really do fill a deep need for understanding events from cartoonists' unique perspective. Thanks for your efforts, as always.

This is a heartbreaking collection that speaks the truth.

(10,479 posts)cry anymore but I did. The one with LaPierre should be made larger and posted all over Newtown. I am so tired of the party of mean taking over our country. They allow their allies to do and say anything they want.

(20,219 posts)n2doc.
Very powerful.
The "lord make it stop" one is so typically wrongheaded....the "lord" isn't going to do anything.
It is people who must make it stop.
Gun control, NO to money=lobbyists, care for the mentally ill.....

The bloody-handed LaPierre one makes me hope at least ONE reporter has the cajones to ask tough questions of both the NRA scum & of pro-gun politicians.

(14,061 posts)I'm sorry I sound so cynical. And I would hope that the slaughter of 20 kids and 6 adults would finally be the tipping point in the gun debate. But I think we all know what their rebuttal is: Guns don't kill guns, people do; if only someone there in the school had a gun; etc., etc., etc. They are so brainwashed by their own obsession with weapons that I doubt anything will penetrate that sickness.

(26,621 posts)we're talking about weapons of mass destruction. Weapons capable of firing 100 rounds in just a few minutes. Weapons that don't belong in civilian society or in the hands of civilians. These weapons must be banned, illegal to own or purchase by the civilian population. If we don't start controlling weapons, everyone might just as well own a nuclear bomb. After all bombs don't kill people...........

They are not good toons but they are necessary, we can no longer let the other side silence us by saying it is too soon to talk about it. It is never too soon for them to become defensive.
