GOP Aide Asks: ‘Why Don’t We Wait A Few Months’ To Deliver Sandy Disaster Relief?

GOP Aide Asks: ‘Why Don’t We Wait A Few Months’ To Deliver Sandy Disaster Relief?

There’s another showdown between the White House and Congress — this one over disaster relief funds for communities hit by Superstorm Sandy.

The Senate Appropriations Committee has unveiled a new $60.4 billion bill that would help pay for recovery efforts after Sandy. The funding request is part of an existing military and veterans affairs bill, thus allowing the House and Senate to consider the bill at the same time. However, Republicans in both chambers say the President and Democrats have not provided enough evidence that the full $60 billion is needed.

“Can I verbalize that stinky look on my face?” asked Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-AZ) earlier this week, as he talked about the bill.

One House aide suggested that Congress “wait a few months” before deploying the emergency funds. From The Hill: ...

17. ONLY THE EVIL GOP WOULD WANT TO DELAY EMERGENCY FUNDS

These evil vampires do not even wait until it is dark to come out of their caves. These things are not human. They have lost their human form which means they do not care. They do breed others to not care and spread their HATE, TERROR, AND GREED.

24. Yeah, let's wait. Winter weather is only setting in.

These Repubs are so obsessed with the political angle of EVERYTHING that the human element doesn't register.

And yet, there are still people who will vote these sociopaths into office every time because they think they'll get rich some day by embracing their way of thinking.

And don't forget, you're doing it in the name of the Koch Brothers and your Tea Party masters!

It figures. He would be singing a different tune if his state had an emergency.

8. Az doesn't really have any emergencies. We get some nasty dust storms & microbursts and

of course nasty heat, but it all comes down to one thing on this and everything else...

Jon Kyl is clueless!

13. Actually ...

Just this year ... and the year before that ... and the year before that ... the state of Arizona availed itself of Federal Emergency Disaster Relief ... and Kyl did not have a stinky look on his face while receiving or authorizing the request with no off-set requirement.

Remember this, Senator Kyl?

There are plenty of disasters in Arizona. Unfortunately, Kyl and McCain are two disasters that have lasted a very long time.

12. In other words, they want their banker pals to have it to play with for awhile longer ...

... it's got to be in some bank, somewhere, being (mis)used in some nefarious way ("oops, that $60M? We sorta borrowed some of it to speculate on an arms cabal in the middle east but we'll get it back to you ASAP!") ....

Print up individual pictures of Sandy's damage and the resulting human suffering with these quotes (and a link to them) imprinted on them.

Make it go viral. Let's show these "people" for who they are!

.... hack into whatever account it's sitting in and do a funds transfer to the communities/charities who need it, a la the movie Sneakers.

Fuck John Kyl.

21. Why Are We Even Talking About This?

Why is there not a contingency fund earmarked for disasters such as this. Then the fund could be tapped into immediately after the disaster. Yes, there would have to be oversight and accountability but what Kyl and the others are attempting here is ludicrous. The money was needed a month ago. This needs to be proactive and not reactive and it needs to be completely taken out of politics.

the wealthy elites can buy it for 10 cents on the dollar.
Remember we're dealing with criminals who have seized a major political party. Republicans are criminals and lie about everything.

26. Nice point. Christie mentioned that 80% of those homes affected

were the only homes owned by these families. And alot of these homes have been in the same family for ages - bought decades ago when real estate prices were cheap. Wouldn't it be great to clear these people out on the cheap so we can give the Wealthy another place to build their overpriced McMansions.

31. Yep - the Shock Doctrine

A disaster comes in and the question is not how to help people recover and rebuild, but how already rich people can capitalize off it and get richer, at the expense of the people who suffered the disaster.

I mean that worked so well for the folks with Katrina....

This GOPers are vile. I swear they have someone siphon their souls completely out of them before they register as republicans.

27. Just Say NO! That is the only policy of the GOP. I think it is time to put them to the wall about it

Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country.

We need to say it LOUD and CLEAR, Over and Over and Over. Either you are for America in a time of need or you are not.

That Might just shut the asshats up.

and let them work outside in the cold, the rain, the snow until they take action. These cretins are lacking basic human empathy.
