A pitbull wouldn't even hurt a baby how clever of you

Pet owners need to rethink what they're really doing, if they own a dog that they cannot stop when it snaps and starts attacking something then they are putting their life in danger

My dog was just recently attacked and my wife was bit, if the pitbull owner tried to get in between me and my dog or me and my wife I would've easily hurt this guy in the worst possible way

The owners of vicious dogs , any vicious dog should be well aware that if their dog snaps not only could the dogs life be in jeopardy but the owners life as well

Like a lot of folks I grew up around dogs from when I was a newborn baby and have always had at least one dog as a member of the family and most of my life that included a pit bull. And I can honestly say from my own experience pit bulls have been the most caring and loving dog of them all. I love them all, but I have to give kudos to pit bulls. As long as they are not mistreated and socialized from puppies I would have no worries whatsoever with them being near children. They are IMO my first choice.

31. Pit bulls are kinda like C-4
Thu Dec 6, 2012, 05:54 PM
Dec 2012

C-4 is, under most circumstances a very stable thing. You could mold a football out of it, encase it in vinyl to keep it together, and let the Carolina Panthers use it as a game ball...without damaging either the Panthers or the other team.(It wouldn't make the Panthers any better, but nothing short of firing the whole team and starting over would.) This is why the Army likes C-4 so much; you can shoot holes in this stuff without setting it off.

Similarly, pit bulls are under most circumstances the nicest dogs imaginable.

But under the right circumstances both C-4 and pit bulls can do the most horrific damage imaginable. The difference is anyone who can get C-4 knows what will set it off, but no one knows what a particular pit bull's trigger is until it goes off. And like C-4, pit bulls go from inert to devastating in a millisecond.

Thu Dec 6, 2012, 11:59 PM
Dec 2012

Could it be that because pit bulls combine very strong jaw muscles, terrier tenacity and lots of backyard breeding you are going to have more problems with pits than with, say, boxers?

Quick example: Belgian malinois. Very, very powerful dogs. Should be way the fuck up there on the Dog Eats Man list...but because no one over here knows what they are, you're not seeing malinois-related deaths in large numbers.(They're kind of the new and improved German shepherd. Cops love 'em.) Pit bulls are a different story.

but regardless of the breed when a dog puts its paw on someone like that ii is a sign of dominanca as, is having its head over the other critter. So while it looks like the dog is protecting the baby...it's really OWNING the baby and that's not good. That pose is not a dog showing respect for human. Even a 3 lb chihuahau should not be allowed to do that. I agree with others here it's not the breed of dog it's the training by humans.

but while a baby and any dog posed like that could be dangerous... why is it we hear so many horror stories about pits?! Because of a combination owners and the nature of the breed. I would NEVER allow a baby or child around such a dog because as one poster said upthread regarding C4 and pits is quite apt: you never know what the trigger will be!

when they were having an adoption event - I couldn't resist going and peeking at the doggies - even though I have three.

Well I met a cute little girl mixed breed, tried to take her for a walk and she was having none of it - we didn't bond.

I took her back and saw a little brown and white pup in one of the cages - very cute, huge eyes, wagged his tail - melted my heart and we bonded, oh boy did we bond . Took him out we got on well - called hubby - adopted dog. Drive up mountain road, poor love car sick. Got him home and my hubby said it's a pit bull - well it's a pit bull cross lab I said and I know I also said I would never have anything to do with a pit bull - but he is sooo cute and no one was looking at him and he is soooo cute and look at him.

Any our little pitbull is absolutely lovely - intelligent, loving, loyal and stubborn He gets on really well with the other dogs and loves to tease them by taking their toys and taunting them until they chase him - boundless energy and fun.

So never say never.

Oh and the dog that really scared me was Jack Russell that the owners had "messed with its head" and it attacked any body who moved unless the owner said it was okay.

A rapist, and 2 Chihuahuas. The guy was going to hurt her, her babies saw mommy in trouble and went into action. The assaulter was hurt and hurt bad. As we were reading the police report, we had no idea how to report this, where in the news we should put this.
we did a lot of dog attack pieces, but this was...
We decided to table it since the guy was in custody, awaiting trail. The news that he was beat up by 2 Chihuahuas and why could contaminate the jury pool. And the bosses went with a more believable story about a dog fight between two large dogs that closed down traffic on a side street.

Another that a lot of the talk reminds me of in my White Eyed Conure named B.A. There was a guy I borough home to meet the folks and B.A. took an immediate hate to him. Flew right at him. It was a good thing he wore glasses because that was what B.A was aiming at.

My point is that any living creature, no mater the size, the bread or even kind can hurt you.

I moved in with a roommate that had one. Her yard wasn't fenced, so he stayed inside. He was such a sweetie. He would climb up in my lap and put his arms on my shoulders. But when they let him out to do his business, if there was another dog, he would get into fights.

My cousin had a dog that wasn't a pit as far as I could tell, but it had a short brindle coat. It would bite anyone that wasn't part of her family, including me. He had already nipped someone else. Then he attacked their neighbor and they had him euthanized.
