Man Who Attacked 74-Year-Old Guy In Burger King Bathroom Explained, "This Is What I Do To Old People
Yet another new low ... like WTF.
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/buster/abused-for-being-old-687451 The Californian, 32, was arrested yesterday afternoon after he allegedly assaulted a 74-year-old man in a Burger King bathroom.
Victim Bill Bayless told cops that Rodgers “slammed him in the face with a bathroom stall door, knocking him to the ground,” according to the Red Bluff Police Department. As Bayless attempted to get up, Rodgers again struck him with the door, noting, “This is what I do to old people.” Before leaving the eatery’s bathroom, Rodgers added, “I knocked you down because you are old.” Pictured in the above mug shot, Rodgers was apprehended last night and charged with felony assault and elder abuse. He is being held in the Tehama County jail in lieu of $80,000 bail.

Called "the disobedient beauty" which develops when good looking children get away with unacceptable behavior because they're so cute. They learn that they can get away with stuff and are let off more easily because others are charmed by their good looks. In the end their charisma over others impairs their own sense of right and wrong leaving them feeling superior to others.

Chilling in fact. I'm a late-60s child of the 60s, and worry about my own
safety on the streets sometimes. I'm really not into guns much, for the reasons you touch on, and cannot run, due to an old leg injury. I always try to keep a good bounce in my step though, so as to not invite abuse. |

|
grew up in where you knew you were in a bad area. Now, trouble comes to you, easily, and in a Burger King bathroom. Off hand, I would think that's a pretty safe zone. I'm scared of growing older, I might eventually do the same. It crosses my mind from time-to-time. I used to carry mace, then later just a stun gun, but somehow they seem ineffective these days. I live in a pretty sheltered area, and feel very lucky, but really, one never knows. It's so creepy that one has to feel uncomfortable like this. Yet another WTF for me.

I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother lived in a very rough neighborhood--and there was someone going around and targeting the homes where elderly widows lived alone. He would beat them, rape them, tie them up and then rob their homes. One died (he left her tied face down on the bed and she smothered before anyone found her.
Well--his career in crime ended when he broke into the home of this spunky little Italian lady. She was nearly a hundred--and had a loaded shotgun under the bed. She wasn't asleep--and she heard the screen door squeak with this moron opened it. When he came into her bedroom--she was prepared and blew a huge hole through him. There was talk of prosecuting her--but they ended up doing nothing. |

64. This kind of crap gets to me, the creeps that do this. The guy probably had no time
|
to react. Not sure how you handle this when older ... carry mace?, a stun gun?, a concealed weapon? ... dialing 911 wouldn't help much with this, and no time. What bothers me is getting robbed when using a urinal. Sometimes I travel a lot, so sometimes I just put my wallet in my front pocket. I hate having to worry about assholes like this.

65. When the new meme out there is hate against Old Guys (particularly Old White Guys)
|
Last edited Mon Dec 3, 2012, 09:46 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) plus the "Old" in general for taking Social Security and Medicare out of the pockets and wallets of the young (brought to you by the "old guy" who heads the Petersen Foundation)...this is what we get.
We should expect to see more of it. My newspaper a Pete Petersen supporter rag does articles about the "Old" in a derogatory fashion at leas two times a week. We forget our Elders...because we are told they are taking money out of our pocket books. And with so many broken families in America today (according to statistics) ad it's no wonder that many have problems with their "elders" who maybe didn't turn out to be story book family figures. Still...when we forget to have some compassion for the elders we lose something about our humanity...just my opinion though. |

68. This country is morphing into a very unpleasant place to live. I think it's only going to get
|
worse in many ways as the brainwashing and dumbing down of America continues. It's a country wherein the environment is created for acts of violence and conflicts. That's all we hear, and that layered with $$$$$ as the only thing that matters in USA, Inc.

69. I agree Koko and I would say so even if I wasn't old. My family lives to be
|
90-100+ and their wisdom is not ignored. I just found a picture of my little Great Aunt Sadie who came to Oregon on the covered wagon trail. I wish I could tell you how much she is loved among our family. We even have kids names for her.
There is something utterly wrong with this fool but in the end the laugh is on him. Unless he dies before, he will be old too. |

86. Thanks for this post and "Great Aunt Sadie." That's a comforting remembrance...
|
I love to remember who those people were in my own family...as disfunctional as it is...there are still one or two of us who "remember the Elders and that gives me great pleasure. I still hope to carry on some kind of memory of FAMILY and continuity!

67. I wonder how one is supposed to protect themselves when elderly. This seemed a
|
safe area to me ... but I've never been there. It just seems a Burger King bathroom isn't where one would expect to encounter this kind of violence. Should seniors carry mace, a stun gun, a concealed weapon or what I wonder. We all end up as seniors one day. That's what I think too, this guy has probably done this before.

I betcha this Rodgers doucherocket is gonna find himself being "Bucked" in the nearest prison cell one of these days.....pun intended.
In all honesty, at least Mr. Bayless is seemingly alright; what would drive someone to pick on an old man anyhow? |

Excerpt: Bayles suffered minor visible injuries and refused medical assistance.
On Tuesday afternoon Bayles said he was feeling better and is surprised by how quickly the story spread. "There's a lot of people wondering what happened to me." A regular of the Burger King, Bayles said he's not going to let the incident stop him from dining at the restaurant. He said he holds no animosity towards Rodgers and wants him to get some help. "He needs to be put some place where he won't do that to someone again. That's what my main concern is. I don't have any ill feelings against him." |

Rodgers, the assaulter, needs to have a psychiatric evaluation for what he said.

Words cannot express how sad I am for your loss of your dad, especially since it occurred in such a senseless manner.
Forgiveness IS divine, no question. |
