I mean, jurors were caught smirking at the defenses attempt to impeach Cohens credibility. And from most former prosecution and defense attorneys on actual news media that are not former Trump attorneys are saying that conviction is likely at this point unless there is a hung jury (and no, I dont agree with those here who think there is a Trumper in the jury). The evidence is overwhelming and Trump is tied to the crime with first hand witness testimony.
The only real defense left is for Trump to take the stand and deny everything Cohen said. And we all know how that would go.
The remaining question at this point is if Trump will serve time, and if so how much?

(22,000 posts)Once convicted, that might change - but probably not by much.
Ultimately, of course, the economy will be the deciding factor - and there's no shortage of miscreants who are in a position to sabotage that in some way.
Putin (will he go nuclear?); Bibi (will he stage a false flag in some embassy?); Big Awl (will they push up gas prices for no reason, like they did in 2000?); Wall Street (will they go short - knowing that could derail Biden, while making a bundle anyway?).

(4,030 posts)There's no media circus if his conviction is a slam dunk, and if they can't convince Americans that half of us are raving, stupid lunatics who will stick by the devil regardless. That's a load of crap, we all know it.

Back when His Flatulence was still in office, I once called him Orange Amin - when someone replied with that one: a 'Needy Amin'.
Classic.

(52,054 posts)There might be a hung jury but I think the prosecutors have a solid case to convict.

And the more chances he'll be jailed for violating the gag order.

(43,956 posts)Jury is a civic duty, hard to imagine a strong case can be derailed by a biased juror though the likelihood is not zero. But evidence and logic trump outside news flow, background, partisanship.

Theres no justification for doing so, and, this is also a wider cultural issue that we havent dealt with yet, imo.

(34,413 posts)Putting slides of advertisements that were using subtle rape imagery to sell products against nearly identical images of rape pornography. Sometimes it takes something that obvious as a wake-up call.
So it starts long before joking about rape - back in the acceptance of casual use of violence/subjucation of women to sell products (among other things).

(111,746 posts)so I think RFK Jr is going to make a great showing. I just don't see how That Fucking Grifter is going to win with that much of his party in full rebellion. And with his lunatic DIL as co chair of the party, they're probably going to try to run Eric next time.

(34,413 posts)The primary is an opportunity to send a message that you are not happy with a candidate - especially if the outcome of the primary is a foregone conclusion. It does not inherently mean that you are unhappy enough that you will not show up and vote for him in November.
I considered not voting in the presidential race in our Primary because I am extremely unhappy with his Mideast policy, and with my tax dollars going to buy weapons used in Gaza. I don't recall what I actually decided to do. But even if I did, there is no way I would have stayed home or voted for Trump, or a third party candidate in November.
I think voting against Trump in the primary has less chance of working than not voting for Biden in the primary (which seems to be impacting his Middle East policy). But assuming they won't ultimately vote for Trump is a dangerous assumption.
