Morning Joe gets it. Joe did not discuss the bias toward Bidend and Democrats in general at the Times...but it is also a factor.

Here is what I got with articles about Joe Biden by the times when I googled. This is why I don't trust Sienna or the Times. Sienna -as the article notes- uses people who don't vote or have not voted in some time to breathlessly tell us that these voters
have "Changed their vote. And IMHO the Times has a vendetta against Biden...no longer the paper of record.

I looked at the Sienna poll. It is dreadful. Calling folks who don't vote or who have not voted recently Biden voters who changed their minds is ridiculous. And these are the things one sees in a Sienna poll.. And breathlessly announcing Trump is ahead of Biden with women is total bullshit.

'One of the things I look for in a polling result is if any of the breakdowns, found in what’s called the “crosstabs,” raise red flags. One jumped out right away for me in this poll, and others saw it, too. As LSU professor and political historian Robert Mann noted,
I do not believe Biden is tied with women nationally 46-46… Biden got 57% of women in 2020. You’re telling me that, post-Dobbs, his support among that demo group will drop to 46? Not credible.'

I agree. If you see a poll and half the women are voting for Trump, something went wrong in the polling sample.

7. There's all kinds of wrong in those Siena polls.

Remember, these were the cheerleaders of the "Red Tsunami" in 2022. And they went radio silent and tried to hide their mistake when it didn't turn out that way at all.

There are a lot of things they're trying to tell us that don't square up with reality. The young people's vote, which they claim is "tied," isn't even close. They claim that 40% of black voters are planning to stay home, false.

The composites, all of them, are skewed by the number of different polls that are all over the place with tiny samples of voters. We'll see on election day, but I'm guessing Biden gets 53% of the popular vote, and carries Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Ohio by two points, Wisconsin by 3, and looking at how senate races are shaping up in Michigan, and Pennsylvania, both of those states by 4. Given Florida's senate numbers, abortion rights numbers and everything that Desantis did there in the past two years, the backlash could give that state to Biden as well.

3. What's worse than the deeply flawed NYT poll is others uncritically quoting it as if it were accurate.

The NYT polls get ten times the coverage as most of the other reputable, non-outlier polls get combined.

That’s not just the fault of the NYT, it’s a problem that is exacerbated by every pundit and blogger who shares the poll numbers as if they were accurate reflection of voter sentiment , without criticism of its outlier status or questioning the methodology.

IMO, every mention of any poll should include at least it’s sample size, sample make up (adults, RV, or LV) and MOE, with a link to the methodology page and cross tabs.

That would be the responsible thing to do.

8. A full 25% of Republicans who are casting ballots in primaries are voting for someone else.

That totally and completely undermines any poll that says he's ahead anywhere except Mississippi or West Virginia. I mean, at this point, he's the presumptive nominee, so what would be the point of continuing to bother to show up and cast ballots for Nikki Haley, especially in states where only registered Republicans can vote.

I think some pollsters and media pundits will be shocked at the results, and some are going to see heads roll as a result.

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough went on an extended rant on Wednesday morning over a recent questionable — according to analysts— New York Times/Siena poll that showed Donald Trump with unusually huge leads in battleground states, with the "Morning Joe" host accusing the venerable newspaper of publishing "garbage" to create news.

According to the NYT poll, President Joe Biden is struggling with young voters and voters of color. However, as co-host Mika Brzezinski pointed out, polling experts have taken to social media to rip the pollsters' methodology apart saying the final results have been "skewed" in Trump's favor.

According to Scarborough, he truly believes the Times has been pushing sketchy polls showing Trump leading because it allows them to get multiple stories out them to drive the news cycle......
