National TV news, with the exception of MSNBC, failed to cover Trump's scandalous Big Oil proposition

https://www.mediamatters.org/msnbc/national-tv-news-exception-msnbc-failed-cover-trumps-scandalous-big-oil-proposition

On May 9, The Washington Post published an exclusive story on a dinner at Mar-A-Lago in which former President Donald Trump promised to reverse President Joe Biden's actions on climate change as he asked oil executives to raise $1 billion for his presidential campaign, assuring them that they'd be getting a “deal” due to the “taxation and regulation they would avoid thanks to him.”

Subsequently, Reuters, The New York Times, Politico, and The Atlantic, among other digital news sites, covered the new revelation, which The Atlantic’s David A. Graham acknowledged “may not have been illegal,” but described as “undeniably scandalous.” The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Will Bunch posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), “You won't read a more important story today.”

Unfortunately, over a four-day period, TV news broadcast and cable networks — with the exception of MSNBC — did not cover Trump’s proposition to oil executives. From May 9 through May 12, MSNBC spent 48 minutes discussing Trump’s proposition to Big Oil, with nearly 40% of the coverage airing on Velshi.

Big Oil and industry allies have already poured millions of dollars into Trump's joint fundraising committee to help cover his legal fees, all the while also drafting their wish list for his day one agenda, including “ready-to-sign executive orders,” according to Politico. Now, with this new revelation from The Washington Post, it appears the price has been set for getting the oil industry’s wish list done, making it even clearer what’s at stake for the climate in the outcome of the 2024 election.

is pretty much in Trump’s camp and want him to win so they can cash in on ad dollars. They think he is good for ratings/click and are completely oblivious to the fact that they will be the first against the wall when he regains power.

This POS would sell the future of the planet for 1 billion dollars.

There you have it humans. Your grandchildren’s future existence has a price tag named by this animal that the Republican Party will support for the presidency.

Un-fucking-believeable.

Even MSNBC spent vastly more time speculating on who would be the next trial witness on Monday, and if it was Michael Cohen, how it would go. The non-stop coverage of the Trump trial, which has a demonstrated-and-now-expected effect of propping up Trump-as-the -victim-of overzealous-prosecution, drowns out this and other more important stories.

We are being betrayed.

I do love Ali Velshi.

Also the MSM: "We can't cover Biden's accomplishments and successes! It could impact the election!"

And by "impact the election" they mean "ruin the illusion of a neck-and-neck horse race."

for the next week should ask any reporter "was it suggested or were you told by anyone not to cover trump's oil billionaire screed?"
Even if they say no, then ask why they never covered it!
Cut to commercial!

I just sent them this:

Dear CNN News Team,
This last weekend Trump entertained a group of big oil executives at Mar-a-Lago and told them that he would reverse all of Biden’s climate change policies if they would give him $1 billion for his campaign.

You have not reported on this. Why is that? Oh, that’s right – shareholder profits! CNN is owned by Warner Brothers Discovery Inc that trades under WBD on NASDAQ.

So the fiduciary responsibility of your senior people is ONLY to generate PROFITS for shareholders. Nothing at all about truth in news. They don’t care at all about that.

The only thing that keeps CNN having even a modicum of credibility is you and your ethics as journalists.

Guess what? You should hang your heads in abject shame, because Politico, the NYT, WaPo, The Guardian, Forbes, Business Insider, Atlantic and MSNBC.

MSNBC is the ONLY national cable network that reported on this. Why haven’t you? Why haven’t ABC and CBS? I wouldn’t expect it from Fox.

I know your president had idiotically had you ‘move closer’ to the GOP to cater to ‘that market’ but WTF? How about the TRUTH, people?

Just askin’.

City and State

OH, PS – Hey, here’s a story idea! Why not report on how the legal doctrine of shareholder primacy (established 1919 in MI Supreme Court ruling against Henry Ford in favor of the Dodge brothers) has caused ‘news’ not to be truthful, but carefully biased to generate controversy because your executive think it is better for shareholder profits to have you report a horserace and normalize Trump and downplay the danger to this republic he represents.

What is wrong with you?
