To pass the Ukrainian aid bill, so I googled it and yeah… a lot of Baptists and church buildings there have been lost during the invasion. I had not been aware of that before and thought it put another spin on things. Either way Mike Johnson is a shit human.

The Russian Orthodox Church wants to control the Ukrainian church’s like they used to. I don’t have a link but I only get my news from DU and Daily Kos. This was reported earlier this winter I think.

can defeat Putin who is a dangerous monster. I think the deal averted a future war in Europe which would spread everywhere. I don't like Johnson for a variety of reasons, but like Pence before him, he got one thing right. As for CNN, we all know they took a turn to the right...not working out as they are consistently at the bottom. I rarely watch CNN.

and trying to make NPR even more "conservative" than it is. Conservative used to mean one thing, but now it means extremist. I don't know why MSNBC keeps calling these extremists "conservative". The only thing they want to conserve is right wing ownership of everything.

6. The absolute minimum, after 6 months of delays

Which, technically, puts him pretty close to Neville Chamberlain in this historical comparison - Chamberlain appeased for some months, and then, in March 1939, agreed to support Poland.

https://history.blog.gov.uk/2019/03/28/whats-the-context-31-march-1939-the-british-guarantee-to-poland/

So when Hitler invaded Poland, it was Chamberlain who declared war on Germany.

Finally agreeing with the Democrats does not make Johnson "Churchill"; it makes him a poor leader who took far long to do the basic decent thing. CNN and its analyst, Stephen Collinson, who wrote this crap, need some basic history lessons before they bloviate.

The US war aid might be too little, too late for Ukraine

by Owen Matthews
The Spectator, April 21, 2024

Excerpt…

The money comes at a critical moment in Ukraine’s war effort. With US aid stalled in Congress since last October and European allies unable to source or manufacture munitions in time, front line units have reported a desperate shortage of artillery shells, with Russians firing up to six shells for every one the Ukrainians shot back. More importantly, a lack of missile defences has seen Russian ballistic and cruise missiles almost entirely destroy the electricity generation infrastructure of Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, and severely damage that of Kyiv. Apparently random strikes on residential buildings across Ukraine since the New Year have left hundreds of civilians dead. The increasingly despairing Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky warned last week than if America did not resume its aid, ‘we will be defeated.’

Snip…

But for many ordinary Ukrainians, the aid is too little, too late. ‘While the Americans have been arguing, our children have been dying,’ says Mikhail Spivak, a Kyiv-based IT engineer who now develops drones to support infantry operations. ‘Of course it is good that more weapons will come. But we know our place now, we know the value [the US places on] Ukrainian lives. And it’s way below Israeli lives.’ A separate bill approving funding for Israel passed easily in Congress tonight, with 365 in favour and only 57 opposed.

Continues…

Just doesn’t have the click factor they were looking for.

And, they would never report that Johnson only did the minimum after the Democrats bent his arm behind his back and over his head.

11. Russia is targeting evangelicals in Ukraine

I hope that fact gets emphasized over and over
I hope someone asks MTG why she is supporting Putin’s targeting Baptists and other evangelicals.
Her constituents watch Fox and don’t know that
They think Putin is a white nationalist and they are OK with that but they aren’t ok with their religion being targeted

That description may stroke Little Johnson's ego enough to make him a bit more "Churchillian" and side with the Democrats on future bills.
