I just assumed that Graig Meyer was the guy sent to jail in the video, but he's not. Check out his campaign's web page. The "About Graig" link is particularly impressive.

(15,507 posts)After the officer asked for my license, I've never immediately told "Have a good night, sir." The officer always ran my license. Was that white guy pulled over in the add a cop or something?

(15,507 posts)Blacks are far more likely to get mistreated by the police. There was no need to exaggerate the ad on the white end of it. It's not like they pull us over and immediately say "Have a good night, sir" after seeing our race.

(54,447 posts)If I understood right, he has an initial period during which he is not allowed to sell his shares. If that time has not yet expired, and the value of his stock goes down to zero, then his shares are worth no more than his word.

(28,505 posts)for brevity. Its the end result that matters, it doesnt have to be literal to be true. Why are you making this about you?

(28,505 posts)Youve been stopped for speeding or a tail light out or for no reason whatsoever and it lead to your arrest? Because I have never heard of this happening to a straight, unintoxicated white man. Your assumptions are bs.

(1,156 posts)I have seen how people are treated by arresting officers. There are two things that most determine how you will be treated. 1) Were you rude to the officer or did you piss them off? 2) Are you wealthy? Not "I don't have to work" wealthy. "No one in my family has worked for generations" wealthy.

(304 posts)Reminds me of a video from a few years ago where a white guy was walking down a street carrying an AR-15 and the police told him to drop the gun. Black people get shot by police if they are holding a gun, or anything which looks like a gun. A few years ago in Los Angeles a fired black cop went on a rampage killing police. Early one morning before sunrise, a car driving slowly near a police checkpoint was fired on 100 times by police. Luckily the two white women driving the car (they were delivering newspapers) weren't hurt as the cops never even tried to see who was driving the car. The city paid the women $4 million to avoid an embarrassing trial and two years later the L.A. police investigation of the incident claimed that the two police officers "made no serious errors." The end.
Wonder Why
(3,274 posts)The fact that the law (like a lot of laws) is unjustly enforced is a great reason to clamp down on discriminatory police. The fact that minorities are pulled over for speeding more often, with worse police attitude and receiving more jail time or higher fines justify getting rid of the laws against speeding? No!
The justification for legalization of cannabis should be based on better benefits than dangers, not on who gets to go to jail.

(6,938 posts)but it's also true that some reforms have to come in baby steps. I'm thinking this may be, or be intended for, a baby step. And being posted 4/19, just in time for 4/20, it certainly is timely.

(6,230 posts)I understand it's easy to grow, but there are easy to use kits for making wine and beer at home, so there really isn't any argument there.
But the main thing is to treat anyone that gets pulled over for DUI or DWI the same.
Me, I'm a strong proponent for stay at home drinking...problem solved.
