and with all the legal cases against him and virtually none of the findings being enforced against him I have to wonder why not.

Several times in the past I've thought . . . surely, the guillotine blades must drop now!
(Heads bouncing, blood squirting, bodies twitching, unmarked graves being dug - that sort of thing.)

Even if I'm speaking metaphorically, it would be therapeutic for most.

Unfortunately . . . too civilised perhaps? Or just lacking the backbone to keep the Republic in a healthy state?
