Sophia Loren Hospitalized With Hip, Femur Fractures After Serious Fall

Sophia Loren was hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries in a fall at her home in Geneva over the weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Loren slipped in the bathroom, fracturing her femur and hips in several places so severely that she required emergency surgery.

Sources close to the Italian acting legend, who turned 89 earlier this month, told THR they were hopeful about the surgery and said Loren’s recovery will include a “short convalescence and then a long rehabilitation.”

That gets a lot of people in these situations

Also hope everyone attending to her is masked and vaccinated for flu and covid.

Best of luck to her. I fear the odds are not in her favor at her age to recover.

I lost two loved ones under very similar circumstances so it hurts to see...

If it's someone I know extremely well and who has made their wishes clearly known to me, that's one thing. But none of us here knows anything about what Loren's wishes would be.

People differ greatly in what they feel is an acceptable quality of life and under what circumstances they would not wish to go on, and many factors are involved. I hope Ms. Loren has the outcome she prefers, whatever that is.

I have to paraphrase; it's been a while.

"Sexuality is not what you have. It's what they think you have."

I can't be sure, but I think this means, if you act sexy, they will be intrigued.

For 89, I think she's still got it!

She and Carlo Ponti came to the concert -- clearly she was there because she loved her son and wanted to support him. But once she/they arrived, as far as the audience was concerned the concert was about seeing her, not listening to the concert. I felt for my (for the moment) colleague, her son. It was sad.

as well--but given the severity of the injuries, it is likely that she is. Best wishes Sophia.
