342K Ballots LEFT TO COUNT In Arizona

DOJ needs to ' step into ' the Arizona counting process and begin investigating the high number of provisional ballots issued!!

Arizona is still working to count 342,936 early and provisional ballots, the Secretary of State's office said Monday evening. The total includes 171,889 uncounted early ballots and 171,047 provisional ballots. Approximately 93,000 of the uncounted early ballots come from Maricopa County as do 122,000 of the provisional ballots.

Civil rights groups allege that Latino voters who signed up to receive ballots in the mail never received them and cast a high number of the provisional ballots in the election.

The Justice Department has declined to say whether it will step into the the counting process.

Like in Arizona, there is a large batch of provisional and absentee ballots to be counted in San Diego County as a whole, some of which will affect the race for the 52nd.

5. The thread's article is referring to Arizona, not CA or other states.

A representative of the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division declined to say Monday whether federal authorities were considering taking action in Maricopa County, Ariz., where Latino voters were allegedly steered towards provisional ballots on Election Day. Civil rights organizations have said the number of uncounted early ballots was unusually high and that a large number of Latino voters were given provisional ballots when they showed up to vote. A DOJ spokeswoman would only say that the agency would continue to review complaints from any of the locations it was monitoring, including in Maricopa County.

4. If you ask for an early ballot, as a large percentage of Arizonians

do, then carry it into a polling place on election day, as many do, that's a provisional ballot and has to be checked against actual voting rolls. As for Latinos not getting their mail in ballots; we all have that problem, not just Latinos. My first request for a mail in ballot was turned down with the notation that my town of 57,000 was "not known in Maricopa County". Getting a mail-in ballot in Maricopa County is like passing the driving test in New York; it just doesn't happen on the first try.

6. Surely something like that is worthy of an investigation?

Why is it so difficult to get a ballot in AZ?

It is difficult to NOT get a ballot. At every point in your life here if you have ANY interaction with government (getting a license, getting i.d., paying fees, getting benefits, getting aid, etc) the government agency you interact with asks you to register to vote. They also ask you to sign up for a mail ballot. Once you do that they will mail you a ballot, without asking, for every election FOREVER. I have lived in 6 states and AZ is definitely the easiest to vote.

I have moved 9 times since I moved to Maricopa County and never had a problem getting a mail ballot.
