On Capitol Hill, Information About David Petraeus Was Confined to Small Circlehttp://www.rollcall.com/news/On-Hill-Information-About-David-Petraeus-Was-Confined-to-Small-Circle-218939-1.html
The circle of Congressional leaders who knew early on of a possible extramarital affair involving CIA Director David Petraeus appears to have been very small, with Speaker John Boehners office confirming that the Speaker was told of Majority Leader Eric Cantors knowledge of the situation after the news of Petraeus resignation broke.
The scandal that felled Petraeus storied military and intelligence career first came to light on Capitol Hill when an informant tipped off a rank-and-file Congressman that Petraeus was having an affair.
According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.) was told in October by a friend that a whistle-blower had information that implicated Petraeus, the retired four-star general and top CIA leader, in an affair that may also have involved a national security breach.
As first reported by the New York Times and confirmed by the source, Reichert directed the whistle-blower to Cantor. The Virginia Republicans staff, and then the lawmaker himself, spoke with the informant. The source was then passed on to FBI Director Robert Mueller.

(7,777 posts)...Faux Newz assures me that this is all part of secretive plot by Comrade Obama to hide the Benghazi failures, withholding the information until after the election to avoid any scandal.
Nevermind...

(98 posts)I didn't care if Clinton did either..I know that in the Patreus case it is about blackmail and other things, so he stepped down, but does it really matter? Is there more that I'm not getting from this story?

(15,812 posts)someone obviously didn't like him. Why? Would love to know that. I am not a fan of his, but he may have been trying to dial the CIA back a bit.

And why Cantor, anyway? Why would anyone go to Cantor? Cantor's staff spoke to the informant BEFORE the FBI!!
