Top 10 Conservative Idiots #14-11: "The Gang Gets Arrested" Edition (Official Top 10 #299!)

Top 10 Conservative Idiots #14-11: “The Gang Gets Arrested” Edition (Official Top 10 #299!)

Welcome back to the Top 10 Conservative Idiots! Yo what’s up Hollywood? How you guys doing? You doing fucking good? Great! It’s good to be back home for a bit before we head off to Paris for our big 300th edition special! Mainly because it was cheaper to get flights to Paris out of LAX than it was any place else. Hey you try booking international flights and hotels for a traveling comedy show with a staff and crew, that shit gets expensive! And we make podcast money. Not prime time after the Daily Show or 10 million subscriber Youtube channel money. Do we have time for the thing? Of course we do. So for those of you who are new to the program, you know that one of our favorite targets is Gwenyth Paltrow, and her GOOP channel. Because they always recommend some absolutely batshit crazy stuff, and most of it is, pretty much bullshit, give or take. But anyway Gwen is an avid skier, and had a collision back in 2016. No, no collusion. That’s an entirely different subject altogether. But anyway the trial finally wrapped up this week, and what was the take away from all of this? Well, Ms. Paltrow only had one thing to say was that she’s sad that she missed a day of skiing! Yeah well, we do have to give it to her, that she does enjoy her hobby! We enjoy our hobbies here too! No sir, we’ve got a policy here not to address the Johnny Depp trial. Because we don’t make fun of things that are too horrifying to make fun of. We can make fun of rich people and their 1st world problems though! That is the problem with doing a live show though, am I right? OK folks, enough of the intro. We have a lot of idiocy to get to, but first John Oliver is back and he delves into a real first world problem that many of us have to deal with, and that’s Home Owner’s Associations:

Where do we begin this week? Well of course the number one thing that has dominated the news last week is of course going to take the top spot this week and that’s the arrest of our *FORMER* president Donald J. Trump (1). That’s right, and the way his arrest played out seems like an episode of “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” doesn’t it? It even came with its’ own B plot with conservatives melting down, particularly the Harley Quinn to his Joker, Marjorie Greene (2) and her side show shit show of a protest, which she got kicked out of New York by way too literal whistle blowers! Taking the third slot this week is the state of Tennessee. Last year’s winner (or loser?) in our 2022 Stupidest State tournament is under fire from anti-gun protestors, so what do they do? They attempt to expel the Dem lawmakers from the state house for marching in the protests! It’s shockingly insane evil, and god forbid anyone have an independent thought that’s not manufactured by Rupert Murdoch! Speaking of independent thought and Fox News, in the number 4 slot this week we’re going to play our favorite game “Is It Racist?” (4) and this one is concerning the behavior of LSU player Angel Reese and Iowa player Caitlyn Clark, which naturally caused Fox News hosts to melt down. Which is why we always say that if you have to ask, it’s probably racist. In the number 5 slot this week, we’re going to check in with our old buddy Elon Musk (5). That’s right, the Twitter CEO and full time right wing shit poster is finding that his latest hairbrained schemes are backfiring on him big time, and it’s also costing him a lot of money. In the number 6 slot this week is of course our weekly visit to the Holy Church Of The Top 10 in “Holy Shit” and this week, Colorado representative Gunny Boo Boo, er, Lauren Boebert, has said that we shouldn’t nitpick parts of the Bible we don’t like in order to suit a narrative. OK Lauren, challenge accepted! And we might have the upper hand on this one! In the number 7 slot this week is a new Beating A Dead Horse (7)! Sigh, another day, another right wing protest against a company for daring to market to a growing demographic. This week it’s specifically Dr. Phil look alike contest winner Kid Rock taking aim (literally) at Bud Light for partnering with a trans Tik Tok influencer. In the number 8 slot this week is our venture into the world of tin foil hat nuttery with Conspiracy Corner (8)! This week, the question on the table is – should anti-vaxxers like RFK Jr run for president? The answer is simply: NO!!! And there’s an even more sinister motive behind this one, and cue your inner Scooby Doo for this one! In the number 9 (NEIN!!!) slot this week is a new I Need A Drink! So now that he’s no longer a touring member of the legendary 80s band Motley Crue, Mick Mars is suddenly going on a warpath against his former bandmates, and it’s going to be a massive circular firing squad between the two in the upcoming weeks! Finally this week it’s time for Stupidest State 2023! The Elite 8 is here! And to kick off Round 2 Week 1 (10), it’s the Fiscal Irresponsibility Conference Finals! Ohio. Kansas. One of these two will advance to the Final Four, the other goes home! We’re live at the new home of the Seattle Kraken, the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle for all the exciting action! Plus to close things out, we’ve got some live music for you from the legendary Clutch! Buy their new album Sunrise On Slaughter Beach or you are no friend of this program! Enjoy! And as always don’t forget the key!

Donald Trump
[br]
[br]

You know, there’s lots of sitcoms out there. But there’s only one that could capture the sheer insanity of last week. Hit it!

Title:

Yes, last week really did feel like a sitcom didn’t it? But the impossible finally happened. That guy who we inexplicably used to call president, Donald J. Trump, got arrested and indicted!!! Yeah come on, how about that? Let’s celebrate this one! The battle may be won, but the war is far from over, but last week really felt like a sitcom didn’t it? But what one should never do is bang a porn star then use campaign funds to pay her off so she keeps quiet. The fact that Trump is still walking free after all of this shit and then is allowed to barf his brain on his own social media hidey hole really says a lot about what the other half wants from this country, doesn’t it? They want absolute power and they don’t care who they stomp on to get it. But for the sake of this argument, let’s call him “Defendant #1”. So how did the US react to Defendant #1’s indictment? Well, most of us were celebrating like our favorite baseball team had just won the World Series!

Former President Donald Trump was arrested and surrendered to authorities at the courthouse in Manhattan around 1:30 p.m. ET and left about two hours later, after his arraignment.
Trump pleaded not guilty today to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to his alleged role in hush money payments toward the end of his 2016 presidential campaign — the first time a former president has had to plead to criminal charges.

Trump was arraigned before Judge Juan Merchan this afternoon on the charges, which resulted from an investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Anti-Trump and pro-Trump protesters, as well as the media, flooded the area outside the courthouse. Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and George Santos, R-N.Y., made brief stops to join Trump supporters protesting his indictment but left amid the chaos.

Trump gave a speech tonight at Mar-a-Lago. He flew back to Florida immediately after his court hearing.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/live-blog/trump-indictment-live-updates-former-presidents-arraignment-expected-t-rcna77705

Yeah WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Trump got arrested! Trump got arrested! Trump got arrested! So that happened. You know what else happened? Right after Trump got arrested, he very quickly went back to Mar-A-Shithole. That’s right – they held an arraignment party. Because the people who still go to Mar-A-Lago think that they’re still running the government. You know at this point, I’d much rather trick Trump into thinking that he’s the president rather than him actually being president, because he can do less damage that way.

The Donald is keeping the party going at Mar-a-Lago since his arrest and indictment in Manhattan this week.

Spies said that Donald Trump has been playing DJ at his private Palm Beach, Fla., club, which is back in party mode following a “somber” scene before his arrest.

A Trumpworld insider told us that the former president was DJing at the club Wednesday and hit the decks again Thursday.

“He was back on his iPad last night for his regular DJ gig,” an insider told us on Friday. “Trump told members he is ‘back on track’ and that he will be found not guilty.”

After his arraignment in New York Tuesday, Trump returned to Mar-a-Lago and delivered a rant against his arrest to supporters that night, saying the real “criminal” is Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
https://pagesix.com/2023/04/07/donald-trump-back-to-playing-dj-at-mar-a-lago-after-arrest/

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! Yeah Trump is going back to his regular DJ gig at Mar-A-Shithole. Seriously, what is he doing? Playing “Don’t Stop Believing” and “YMCA” for the insurrectionists? And do his supporters not see the sheer irony of him playing YMCA? Well that aside, I love that Trump thinks that this little incident helped his chances in 2024. Because the GOP is that deranged, and they have gone that far off the deep end. But while they’re currently circulating the bottom of the drain, the adults are back in charge, and it has been so much better.

In February, Ron DeSantis led Donald Trump 45% to 41% in the Yahoo/YouGov poll. But Trump’s indictment has reversed the race.

Just after Trump said he would be arrested, he moved into the lead – 47% of Republican and Republican-leaning voters preferred him, compared with 39% for DeSantis. Now, after his arraignment, Trump’s lead has widened – 57% to 31%.

What’s going on? Trump’s high-decibel howls of anger and grievance and his vitriolic charges of a “deep state” aligned against him are rallying Republicans to his side.

He has raged against his indictment in language evoking racist and antisemitic conspiracy theories. He has whipped up a fury of threats against the judge, the prosecutor and their families. And of course he continues to repeat his lie that the 2020 election was stolen.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/apr/11/trump-arrest-republican-nomination-2024-independents

Yeah well the 2024 GOP primary is basically going to come down to which brand of fascism and authoritarianism you’re willing to tolerate. Which will basically be either Nazi Trump or third world dictator Desantis. And then of course, one thing we can always count on is that Trump lies, and he lies a lot. In fact, count this one under “things that did not happen”. In fact, this so did not happen that the actual accounts of the event totally contradict that which comes out of the anus, er, mouth of the Orange One. Is Trump lying? The answer is yes, always. And let’s face it, Trump wouldn’t be anything without Fox News.

In his first interview since being arrested, former President Donald Trump gave his account of what it was like while also veering off topic to praise dictators – and Gavin Newsom.

Trump claimed during a sit-down interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson that Manhattan court workers cried during his arrest and apologized to him.

"They were incredible," Trump said in the interview that aired Tuesday. "When I went to the courthouse which is also a prison in a sense, they signed me in and I’ll tell you people were crying."

Manhattan court workers "have no problems putting in murderers," but they cried at Trump's arrest and arraignment last week, according to the former president.

"It’s tough, tough place and they were crying. They were actually crying. They said I’m sorry," Trump told Carlson in a sit-down interview at Mar-a-Lago.

Marjorie Greene
[br]
[br]

There’s two classic elements to every sitcom. The first is that all sitcoms feature the same gang of regulars with a rotating list of guest stars. The second is that most episodes have what’s called an “A” plot which is the central theme of each episode and usually the more serious plot, while the “B” plot is usually where the comic relief happens. A classic example of this is the classic Simpsons episode “New Kid On The Block”, where Bart falls in love with his attractive new neighbor, while Homer goes off on a binge eating frenzy and sues a seafood restaurant for not giving him all he could eat. So in the Trump sitcom, Trump gets arrested and arraigned in New York City. Meanwhile, part time Congresswoman and full time social media troll and Trump ass kisser Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q – Batshit) goes on a rampage in New York City. But her rampage was actually more of a whimper. And it was pretty awesome to witness. And this exactly what made last week feel like it was something that was straight out of a sitcom episode. You can’t make this stuff up, folks!

Hundreds of onlookers, protestors, journalists and a few-attention seeking politicians swarmed the lower Manhattan courthouse where former President Donald Trump was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.

A morning "Rally for Trump" in support of the ex-president had been expected to draw numbers, including headlining speaker Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. The Republican lawmaker arrived amid the chaotic crowds of pro and anti-Trump supporters where she delivered brief remarks.

Shouting through a small handheld megaphone, Greene's message to Trump's supporters was essentially drowned out by the suffocating crowd of people and media gathered outside. Security whisked her away a few minutes later.

In an interview posted online, Greene said she planned to speak with media from a car and accused counter-protesters of assault for blowing whistles and shouting as she spoke. Whistles, NBC News reported, were being handed out by a Trump supporter: "We’re here to make noise."
https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/marjorie-taylor-greene-headlines-trump-support-rally-mayors-crowd-message-control-yourselves/4204797/

Thank you Nelson! There’s honestly nothing I love more than when a right winger attempts to stage a protest only for them to get drowned out by counter protestors. Because I mean really, what are you protesting, Marjorie? The rest of us who aren’t intwined with the Murdoch cult want to see Trump go down in flames. The best part about this is that she was warned by the mayor of New York beforehand, but chose to come here anyways. Then retreated with her tail between her legs when she got called out for her unrelenting bullshit.

As Donald Trump is set to make history Tuesday in New York as the first former president indicted and arraigned, the city's Mayor Eric Adams has a message for one of the Republican's most loyal supporters.

"People like Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is known to spread misinformation and hate speech, while you’re in town, be on your best behavior," Adams said during a press conference Monday.

Greene, a Republican congresswoman from Georgia, and other Trump allies were outnumbered by media, anti-Trump protesters and other onlookers during a "Rally for Trump" Tuesday morning.

Using a handheld megaphone, Greene delivered brief remarks that were drowned out by the large crowd gathered outside the courthouse where Trump is set to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.

She was joined by beleaguered Rep. George Santos, R-N.Y., and the New York Young Republicans, a group with ties to white nationalists.

So you know how they say that you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Well, let’s test this theory out a bit. Marjorie hangs out with known serial liar Donald Trump, known serial liar George Santos, and a bunch of wannabe Nazis. So does that mean that Marjorie is a serial lying wannabe Nazi herself? I’d say probably. But one thing I do want to point out about the MAGAs is their ever increasing use of hyperbole in their rhetoric. No, MAGA morons, Trump is not Jesus. Nor is he Nelson Mandela. Nor is he… oh forget it. it’s getting ever harder to keep up with their bullshit.

Marjorie Taylor Greene had to leave the Trump arraignment rally after she was drowned out by counter-protesters.

During her chaotic arrival in New York on Tuesday, there appeared to be more members of the media than protesters present.

Ms Greene was joined by the New York Young Republicans – a group with ties to embattled congressman George Santos, who also made a brief appearance at the rally before departing after being mobbed by the media. Ms Greene was also met by counterprotesters holding their own “emergency noise demo” to drown out her “hate speech”.

The New York Young Republicans at one point responded with a USA-chant.

As clashes between pro- and anti-Trump demonstrators took place, the NYPD tried to separate the groups. Both camps were separated with NYPD barricades and community affairs officers between them.

Yeah I mean come on, Trump is Jesus? Are you absolutely fucking kidding me? And this is the other problem with the MAGAs. As we have noticed in years past, whenever they get called out on their bullshit in public, they retreat back to their social media hidey holes, where they increase the hyperbole meter to where it breaks the scale and play the sympathy card so it wins them over more supporters, we know their patterns! But is New York City really that repulsive? The answer is no. It’s only repulsive because big cities don’t tolerate Marjorie’s hateful bullshit.

U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Donald Trump's most ardent allies, plans to show her support for the now-indicted former president -- the first ever to face criminal charges -- in person.

The Georgia Republican tweeted Friday that she's coming to New York on Tuesday, when sources say Trump is expected to be arraigned on the still-sealed Manhattan grand jury indictment.

Evoking Trump's rhetoric, Greene urged her more than 600,000 Twitter followers to join her, saying, "We MUST protest the unconstitutional WITCH HUNT!" It had been seen nearly a half-million times within 60 minutes.

Greene, whose Twitter account was temporarily restricted -- and later swept of more than 5,000 messages Twitter deemed incited violence -- earlier this week, had tweeted a large graphic in support of Trump an hour before that. Pinned to the top of her account is a post from Jan. 7, 2021: "RT if you still have @realDonaldTrump’s back!"

The Tennessee State GOP
[br]
[br]

We don’t need to tell you that America has a gun problem. We can’t get enough firearms. America does love them some guns. And because of this undying love of the firearm, mass shootings are at an all time high. We’ve literally had 142 mass shootings and it’s only the middle of April so far. And it’s going to get worse. Though I did like Michael Che’s idea that if we really want to end gun violence, we should get trans people to do advertisements for guns. However, America’s gun nuts seem to be getting the wrong message and it’s in their social media feeds 24 hours a day. So here’s what you don’t do when people are clamoring to end America’s gun problem. What you don’t do is that you don’t get rid of the people who are trying to actually help solve the problem. Yes, as is the case of what happened in Tennessee last week. You can say all you want to about the MAGAs and what Fox News is doing to this country but it seems like Fox News is hell bent on taking this country full fascist authoritarian, and what happened in Tennessee last week is a preview of some incredibly dark shit to come.

Tennessee Republican lawmakers took the first steps Monday to expel three Democratic members from the GOP-dominant House for their role in a recent gun control protest at the state Capitol.

The extraordinarily rare move resulted in a chaotic and fiery confrontation between lawmakers and supporters opposing the move and has further fractured an already deep political division inside the Tennessee Legislature.

Resolutions have been filed against Reps. Gloria Johnson, Justin Jones and Justin Pearson after they led chants from the House floor with supporters in the gallery last Thursday. The resolution declared that the three had participated in “disorderly behavior” and “did knowingly and intentionally bring disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives.”

Republican Reps. Bud Hulsey, Gino Bulso, and Andrew Farmer filed the resolutions. They successfully requested Monday that the House expedite the process and vote on the resolutions Thursday.

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! So that’s how this disgusting, illegal, and grossly unconstitutional move went down. And I’m not even counting Florida’s efforts to actually dissolve the Democratic party, that’s going full Nazi. But we’ll save that for another entry. So what happened after that? Well it of course caused a national uproar, which apparently got lost in the15 hours of footage of Trump’s plane parked at the tarmac or what he had for lunch (I’m guessing it was probably lukewarm McDonald’s). But yes, we can’t overlook what this is but a mere preview of.

Count most Americans on the side of the Tennessee lawmakers who were expelled from the state Legislature for joining protesters to demand tougher gun laws.

An exclusive USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll taken Friday through Sunday finds three-fourths of those surveyed, including more than 6 in 10 Republicans, say legislators have the right to peacefully protest at statehouses.

In the wake of school shootings, two-thirds say state legislatures should enact stricter controls on gun purchases. Tightened gun laws were backed by 40% of Republicans and 72% of independents as well as 92% of Democrats.

A risk for GOP in response to mass shootings

The findings underscore the political risks for Republicans at odds with broader public opinion on the response to a spate of mass shootings, including one at a Nashville school on March 27 that killed three children and three adults.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/exclusive-americans-call-tennessee-expulsions-abuse-of-power-back-tougher-gun-laws/ar-AA19JkTx

Here’s what is fucking insane about this whole incident. The first is that the two guys in question were black, so there’s a race card to be played here. But what’s even more insane is that we live in a country that values weapons of mass destruction more than the victims that they take from us. That’s really disheartening. And it keeps happening again and again and again. The second thing is that this is the thanks we get for trying to stand up for what’s right and go against the MAGA Christian fascist Taliban GQP cult. God forbid anyone has an independent thought not manufactured by Rupert Murdoch. The good news though is that this shit is illegal as hell.

Are the racist expulsions of Democratic lawmakers Justin Jones and Justin Pearson from the Tennessee House of Representatives legal? According to a Supreme Court case from 1966, they might not be.

That case, Bond v. Floyd, bears some similarity to the crushing of dissent we’ve seen unfold in Tennessee. After Jones and Pearson joined a gun control protest following the school shooting in Nashville, they were expelled from their elected roles by Republicans, who chose to subvert the voters’ will instead of trying to protect those voters from even more gun violence.

In that Supreme Court case from 1966, the Georgia House of Representatives had refused to seat Julian Bond, a newly elected member — and like Pearson and Jones, a Black man — after statements he made that were critical of the Vietnam War. Siding with Bond, the Supreme Court ruled that a state can’t apply a stricter speech standard to legislators than its residents. For more on the Bond case, see this thread from Joyce Vance, a columnist and legal analyst for MSNBC:
https://www.msnbc.com/deadline-white-house/deadline-legal-blog/black-tennessee-lawmakers-expulsions-supreme-court-rcna78712?cid=sm_npd_ms_tw_ma&taid=6431c0beb2f24c000136b565&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

Thank you Nelson! So what’s the lesson to be learned from all of this, besides don’t fuck with the MAGA cult that seems to be engulfing this country? Well I guess the take away is that you shouldn’t be too surprised when they pull fascist shit like this. But the other good thing about this is that if you complain enough, eventually they will listen. But it will take a hell of a lot of complaining. As we’ve seen from mass shootings ranging from Sandy Hook to Aurora to Vegas to the latest one in Nashville, the cult of the firearm has spoken, and we will witness this again and again. Thank you sir, may I have another?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Two former Black Democratic lawmakers who were expelled by Republican colleagues in Tennessee say they want to be reappointed, then elected back to their seats, following their ouster for a protest on the House floor urging passage of gun-control measures in the wake of a deadly school shooting.

Nashville’s metro council is likely to reappoint Justin Jones to the seat during a specially called Monday meeting. The Shelby County Commission plans to announce soon when it will meet to fill the vacancy left by Justin Pearson’s expulsion. Likewise, commissioners can reinstall Pearson, who is from Memphis.

Both former lawmakers told NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday that they want to return to their positions as lawmakers. Special elections for the seats, which have yet to be set, will follow in the coming months.

The expulsions have made Tennessee a new front in the battle for the future of American democracy. The former lawmakers have quickly drawn prominent supporters. President Joe Biden spoke with them and Vice President Kamala Harris visited them in Nashville.

Is It Racist?: The Angel Reese Controversy
[br]
[br]

Hey everyone! It’s time to play the hot new game that’s sweeping the nation!

Because our motto around here is that if you have to ask, it’s probably racist! And we say “probably” very loosely. And there’s been a lot of racism in the news lately. But last week was the stuff of sheer insanity. Because during the NCAA women’s championships between LSU and Iowa, you may have heard of a controversy regarding forward Angel Reese. Which of course blew up on Fox News, you know, the reason why we can’t have nice things. And obviously if you watch Fox News, I’d be willing to bet some good money that most of their commentators have probably never set foot on a basketball court. If there’s one thing I know about the sport of basketball, is that one of the components needed to be a good player is that you need to be a good trash talker, and you need to be able to dish it out as well as you can take it. Which of course led to this:

The Louisiana State University women's basketball team won an incredibly compelling NCAA championship last weekend (the highest-rated game in the history of the women's college basketball NCAA tourney, per The New York Times) thanks to a concerted team effort. LSU's best player, 6'3" wing Angel Reese, was taken a bit out of her rhythm with early foul trouble, but still finished up with a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double, while her teammates stepped up to the plate to take on a bit more of the scoring burden than usual.

Unnecessary controversy erupted when Reese flashed a "You can't see me"/"Can't feel my face" hand gesture to the University of Iowa's best player, point guard Caitlin Clark, during the matchup, with the Tigers lapping the Hawkeyes.

Former Phoenix Suns forward Tim Thomas made the move NBA-famous during Phoenix's charmed 2006 playoff run, which kicked off with a hotly-contested seven-game playoff series against your seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers, led by future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant, enjoying a career season, Lamar Odom, and not much else. The 45-37 Lakers pushed the 54-28 Suns to the brink, before Phoenix ultimately smoked them in Game 7, 121-90.
https://www.si.com/nba/lakers/news/angel-reeses-controversial-gesture-has-origins-in-la-playoff-series-ak1987

Yeah pretty much! I’ll tell you who should feel like a failure is our old buddy Dave Portnoy. That’s right, the trash talking founder of Barstool Sports can dish it out, but he sure as hell can’t take it. So let’s ask an actual former NBA legend what he thought of the entire thing. So let’s backtrack a bit. Kareem Abdul Jabar, the LA Lakers legend, got into a spat with Dave Portnoy about the whole Angel Reese controversy. And after judging from all of this, we think that it’s safe to say that Portnoy has probably never set foot on an inner city basketball court:

The NCAA women’s Championship Final was one for the history books. It didn’t just feature great basketball, but extreme competition and drama that captured all the media headlines for the next few days. A single moment towards the end of the game caused major controversy as LSU star Angel Reese came under fire for pointing out her ring finger to Iowa State’s Caitlin Clark, while enacting the ‘You can’t C me’ gesture. Several media personalities and talking heads lashed out at her, calling her ‘classless’. But the backlash against her was quickly superseded by a sea of support calling out the suspicious nature of the overreaction against Reese’s seemingly harmless gesture.

At first, it was ‘uncle’ Shaquille O’Neal, who called out the detractors. And now another NBA legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has come to her aid. In his new Substack article, the former NBA all-time leading scorer defended the 20-year-old star, ripping apart a $100 million worth celebrity for his tasteless ‘classless piece of sh*t’ comment.

Abdul-Jabbar felt that there is nothing wrong with a bit of trash talk in the heat of intense competition. He pointed out Clark doing a similar ‘You can’t see me’ celebration only a week before Reese pulled it out of her bag. The six-time champion didn’t find it to be a ‘big deal’.

Not only that but the Hall of Famer also pointed out how Clark defended her opponent. The AP Player of The Year admitted that Reese shouldn’t be criticized for her actions. She added that every girl should play with emotion and passion similar to that of Reese.

Yeah come on, Kareem! Not a big deal??? Well here’s where it gets weird, and you knew that it was going to. At least be thankful that we have a competent president in the White House who won’t be embarrassing you when you go to visit. Remember when Trump greeted the visiting championship winning Clemson Tigers way back when (see: Idiots #6-2 )? Well this time it might actually be the visitors doing the embarrassing behavior and not the guy in the White House. Because apparently LSU actually turned down the White House invite, but sources close to the school say otherwise.

Louisiana State University star Angel Reese says that neither she, nor her team, would be visiting the White House after the Tigers defeated the University of Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85 to win their first NCAA women’s basketball national championship.

Traditionally, the national champions would be invited to the White House. But after comments from first lady Jill Biden suggesting that Iowa be invited as well before appearing to walk that back, Reese told “I AM ATHLETE” podcast hosts Brandon Marshall and Ashley Nicole Moss: “I don’t accept the apology because you said what you said … You can’t go back on certain things that you say … They can have that spotlight. We’ll go to the Obamas.’ We’ll go see Michelle. We’ll see Barack.”

Reese, who was named the women’s tournament Most Outstanding Player as a result of her standout performances, also said separately: “I just know if the roles were reversed, they wouldn’t be the same. If we were to lose, we would not be getting invited to the White House.”
https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/05/sport/angel-reese-white-house-jill-biden-intl-spt/index.html

Yeah come on, deal with it! But here’s where the racism part comes into play. So apparently some crazy NCAA fans attempted to mock Reese online, and if there’s one thing about the social media era in which we currently live, it’s that it’s given lots of loud mouth idiots across the country and around the world a megaphone with which they can say anything hateful that they damn well please. Well, if there’s one person who we have learned that you do not fuck with, it’s Samuel L. Jackson. Mr. Jackson of course had some very choice words for the haters, especially Keith Olbermann. So audience, we ask you one question – IS IT RACIST? And the answer: probably!

After her in-game celebratory gesture during the women’s NCAA Championship Final versus Iowa, LSU’s Angel Reese drew a boatload of criticism. In the waning seconds of LSU’s championship victory, the 6-foot-3 forward let out a celebratory yell. Reese pointed to her ring finger after mimicking WWE star John Cena’s ‘You can’t see me’ sign. Some people criticized this celebration, labeling it “disrespectful” and “classless.” In the midst of all this drama, Samuel L. Jackson has issued a heated response to one of Reese’s detractors, using abusive language.

Reese has maintained that her celebration was an act of empowerment for young women and a message to her detractors. She claimed that she had received criticism all year for being ghetto or ‘hood’, and not fitting in a box. The newly crowned NCAA Most Outstanding Player claimed that she did it so that other women in her position would feel emboldened to stand up for their convictions.

Reese’s post-game gesture has received mixed reactions, with some people supporting her and others condemning her actions. American Sports commentator Keith Olbermann referred to her as a “f*cking idiot” in a tweet. This tweet by Olbermann created even more controversy and many people slammed him for his inappropriate language against a young woman.

In response to Olbermann’s tweet, actor Samuel L. Jackson issued a brutal and savage response, laced with offensive verbiage. “Thanks for reminding us what Little D*ck Energy actually is, Keith!!!“ Jackson’s tweet read.

Aari McDonald’s celebration at the Elite Eight serves as a comparison to Reese’s celebration. After making a crucial basket, Arizona player McDonald replicated Cena’s motion as well. Many others praised McDonald’s celebration, applauding it as an expression of self-assurance and fervor.

Elon Musk
[br]
[br] BO

It's great to know that the guy in charge of one of the world’s largest social media companies has the mental brain age of a 10 year old isn’t it? Though come on, Harry Bolz? That’s the best you could come up with, E? I know five year olds who can talk trash and flip shit better than that. And it’s insane that Twitter’s stock has taken a nose dive since Elon’s hostile takeover of the platform back last November, and continues to at an alarming rate. So where does it end? Does he go full Jim Jones or does he go full Howard Hughes? I mean he’s basically just a hair away from storing his fingernail trimmings and urine samples in jars. So what is the mad man of Twitter up to lately? Well, his weekend antics which basically involved the maturity level of someone who’s just now discovering that fart jokes are funny, did this to the Twitter headquarters in San Francisco last weekend:

Under Elon Musk, Twitter has antagonized multiple major news organizations by labeling them state-funded media, appears to have eased restrictions on Russian government accounts and made crude jokes on the front of its headquarters and on Musk’s own Twitter display name.

And that’s just this weekend.

Musk’s antics, which only seem to have escalated this month, threaten to further erode Twitter’s brand value. For months, the company has struggled to retain advertisers and supplement its declining ad business — which previously comprised 90% of its annual revenue — by convincing users to pay up for its Twitter Blue subscription service.

Musk, who is on the hook for large payments to lenders after buying the company for $44 billion, including with significant debt, must either coax hesitant advertisers back to the platform or boost its subscription business -— or both. But his recent erratic moves may only complicate those turnaround efforts.

Late last week, Twitter faced backlash for labeling NPR as a “state-affiliated media” organization akin to foreign propaganda outlets such as Russia’s RT and Sputnik, in an apparent violation of its own policies. NPR CEO John Lansing called Twitter’s move “unacceptable,” and said the organization is “supported by millions of listeners.”
https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/10/tech/elon-musk-twitter-antics-turnaround/index.html

Oh come on! If you’re going to go after a network that wants to be state run TV, why not go after Fox News? I mean come on, it’s the place current representatives go to barf their brains on whatever insane laws they’re trying to pass and convincing people that it’s the right thing to do. Which, as we know, most of the time it isn’t. But that’s not the only insane thing that Elon has been up to this week. So those of you who have a blue checkmark next to your user name on Twitter, will find that your legacy checkmark expires on… wait for it… 4/20.

Elon Musk has set a deadline — maybe — for purging legacy blue check-marks from Twitter accounts that aren’t paying him for verification.

On Tuesday, the multibillionaire owner of Twitter tweeted, “Final date for removing legacy Blue checks is 4/20.” Musk is notorious for his love of memes and jokes, including those involving 420 (i.e., the unofficial day/time for toking up). It’s not clear whether April 20, 2023, is actually the cutoff date for when legacy accounts will have their status revoked (unless they’ve signed up for a Twitter Blue subscription) or if it’s just a joke, à la Musk’s move to temporarily swap out the Twitter logo with the Shiba Inu “doge” mascot of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency.

Twitter previously announced that starting April 1, it would begin removing the blue check-mark badges from legacy verified accounts — those which the company had previously deemed to be notable and/or authentic — unless users have signed up for Twitter Blue, which starts at $8 per month. That doesn’t appear to have begun in any widespread way at this point.

On April 2, Twitter changed the language in the description of verified users to read, “This account is verified because it’s subscribed to Twitter Blue or is a legacy verified account” — which means you can’t tell who is paying for a blue check-mark and who isn’t.
https://variety.com/2023/digital/news/twitter-musk-date-removal-blue-checkmarks-legacy-1235570782/

Seriously? 420 69? What an edgy bad ass you are! Kind of like that Trump rapper who goes around calling himself “Stony Dudebro”. Look, even as a comedian and we’re doing a comedy show, weed humor and 69 jokes are for people who are just discovering comedy. Come on, Elon, put down the bong and back away from the computer very slowly. Imagine paying $44 billion dollars to buy a social media company, only to become chief shit poster. Ha ha ha ha ha! I didn’t know that was a job title! But anyway, while you weren’t looking, Elon pulled what may be the ultimate dick move and simply merged Twitter with X Corporation:

Twitter changed its incorporated name to X Corp., the name of its owner and CEO Elon Musk’s long-envisioned everything app that extends far past social media, as Musk extends his grand aspirations for the company.

Twitter Inc. “no longer exists” and the company is now a part of X Corp., according to an April 4 filing in California federal court.

Musk pointed to the fairly obscurely located filing in an early Tuesday tweet, which simply read, “X.”

The centibillionaire has been obsessed with the idea of X leading up to and following his $44 billion purchase of Twitter last fall; Musk said in October the Twitter acquisition was “an accelerant to creating X, the everything app.”

Musk has indicated he hopes to transform Twitter/X into a wide-ranging service akin to China’s WeChat, telling a Morgan Stanley conference last month he wants his app “to become the biggest financial institution in the world.”

Yeah come on, E!!! We’ve already had to put up with that shit with the Metaverse. No, I don’t want people like Elon or Zuckerberg siphoning my every last hard earned dollar. I mean, we make 2:00 PM at the Chuckle Hut money! Which is why we have that coveted Thursday at 2:00 PM time slot! We can’t be bothered to have a show that goes up against The Daily Show! But the takeaway from this segment should be that Elon says one thing and does another. Well, if you thought his social media company was insane, wait until you see what he’s got in store for AI! Come on, doesn’t he know what happens when artificial intelligence becomes self aware? Do I have to explain the plot of Terminator again?

Elon Musk recently signed a letter calling for a six-month pause on development of all artificial intelligence technology, as was widely reported last month. But that hasn’t stopped Musk from investing heavily in AI development for Twitter, according to a new report from Insider.

Musk has recently hired AI engineers from Alphabet’s research firm DeepMind, including Igor Babuschkin and Manuel Kroiss, according to Insider. And apparently he’s looking for others to help Musk get his own AI software off the ground at Twitter.

Musk’s development of his own AI, known as a large language model, is still in “an early stage,” according to Insider. And that makes sense when you look at Musk’s history with the technology. The billionaire has had a few false starts with AI and is clearly trying to play catch up.

Musk co-founded OpenAI, which makes ChatGPT, in 2015 and reportedly butted heads with co-founder Sam Altman. Musk made a move to take over OpenAI in 2018 but the board didn’t like that and Musk left the company. Which likely explains why Musk is calling for a six month pause. The Twitter CEO has to realize he’s behind everyone else right now.

Holy Shit: Lauren Boebert Vs The Bible
[br]
[br]

Gather around my fair brothers and sisters! It’s time to take a seat in the pew and pass the collection plate, for the Holy Church Of The Top 10 has convened and it’s time to remind you that the holiest among us are the most full of:

My fair congregation! Please be seated! You know there comes a time when every boy becomes a man, when challenges must be accepted. And one must rise to such an occasion. You know we live in a strange time right now. Because America is currently under the spell of two mad men. One of course, is the unholy, ungodly Dark One. I of course speak of a man that is so foul, so profane, so disgusting that his name dare not be spoken in my church! The other is of course, the fascist who runs Florida. But, the Dark One and the Florida Fascist aside, that’s not what we are here to talk about today. What are we here to discuss? Well, a certain supporter of the unholy Dark One, has a message for us. But this particular individual isn’t exactly what one would call “learned”. And as a matter of fact, we’re going to go out on a limb and say that this isn’t the way that you win an argument. But before we go any further, I just want to say what this particular individual is alerting to, and well, let’s just say that what she is suggesting is probably a grey area for conservatives.

Rep. Lauren Boebert says she doesn't plan to "nitpick what the Bible says" about whether it was right or wrong for her 17-year-old son, Tyler, to get his girlfriend pregnant.

In a Thursday interview on "The Rubin Report," a conservative political talk show, host Dave Rubin asked Boebert if her son getting his girlfriend pregnant "challenged" any of her beliefs.

"Obviously, I'm a Christian, and there are standards that we like to uphold, but none of us do it perfectly," she told Rubin. "We can nitpick what the Bible says is right and wrong, but I think just having that heart posture of wanting to serve God, it's so important."

Boebert added that she plans to teach her son "about redemption and how to move forward."

The Colorado Republican, 36, revealed that she will soon be a grandmother while speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference on March 4.

Yeah come on, Colorado! I love you guys, but this is who you voted for twice? Really? And come on, as we have seen time and time again, the MAGAs don’t really have standards. I mean literally anyone can be a representative if they speak MAGA and watch Fox News until their eyes bleed. But that’s not what GAW D and JAYSUS want now is it? So let’s think about who else might be involved in this. You know we’ve often warned about the false prophets who preach for the unholy Dark One. And they have seriously been going off the deep end lately. So much that we don’t even know how far it’s going to go, and apparently there’s no bottom!

Lance Wallnau, a religious-right activist and self-proclaimed Christian nationalist, streamed a video on his Facebook page on Easter Sunday in which he warned that God will start killing American political leaders next month in response to the recent arrest of former President Donald Trump.

Broadcasting live from Israel, Wallnau blamed “the devil” for Trump’s arrest last week on charges of falsifying business records, which prosecutors say he did during the 2016 presidential election to cover up hush money payments made to women with whom he allegedly had extramarital affairs. Wallnau urged his viewers to start engaging in imprecatory prayers to bring a curse upon those are supposedly persecuting Trump, warning that those who “have been standing in the path” of what God intends to accomplish through Trump will soon pay with their lives.

“Why is the devil doing what the devil is doing?” Wallnau asked rhetorically. “Because he’s manifesting because he knows he only has a limited time. Satan’s whole anti-Christ activity is him trying to consolidate control because he knows he’s about to lose everything. So, you have to really reinterpret what’s going on in the news, watching what’s happening with Donald Trump.”

“This is the time for the imprecatory prayers that would be answered, which is going to be, ‘May they fall into the pit that they have dug,'” Wallnau continued. “What would that look like? Well, it could be that there’s such an outrageous backlash over the clear political persecution of an innocent political candidate that we’re really becoming like a Venezuela or a Soviet Union where we find a crime to lock up or assassinate our political rivals. The American people won’t put up with it.”

Yes, the devil most certainly walks among us! Because I’m not sure that’s what our GAWD JAYSUS would want now is it? These are people who absolutely nitpick the Bible for their own personal gain and to support a narrative. Or how about someone like Moms for Liberty which unequivocally supports the Unholy Dark One? And you know what, we may have to do a deep dive into this group next week because these are people who nitpick the Bible in order to suit a narrative, and if they show up to your city, you know that they are up to no good!

A school in Florida removed a graphic novel adaptation of Anne Frank's diary from its library shelves this week after a group of parents complained about its "sexually explicit" content.

The book, entitled "Anne Frank's Diary: The Graphic Adaptation," was removed from the Vero Beach High School library in Indian River County after a group called Moms for Liberty expressed concerns, according to local news outlet WPTV.

"We think true history absolutely needs to be taught, the Holocaust, the Anne Frank diary," Jennifer Pippin, who chairs the Indian River County chapter of Moms For Liberty, told WPTV.

Pippin argued the book contains illustrations where Frank walks along sexually explicit nude statues, as well as a "graphic scene" where Frank asks a friend to expose themselves to one another.

Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Does he not know that Testament is a thrash metal band? That is a good one! But here’s the thing, Boebert is not someone who we would exactly call “learned”, as we said at the beginning of our sermon. I mean come on, this is someone who used her platform to wish death on President Biden. That’s not what JAYSUS would want, that’s absolutely psychotic! But this is one of those things where Christians say one thing and then do the exact opposite. You know, we’re the ones who are supposed to abide by the rules. Come on, man!

Wait, is she holding herself to a different standard than what she’s constantly preaching about? Weird! Boebert appeared on the conservative talk show The Rubin Report, hosted by Dave Rubin, and was asked whether her beliefs were challenged by her 17-year-old son getting his girlfriend pregnant.

“Obviously, I’m a Christian, and there are standards that we like to uphold, but none of us do it perfectly,” she said conveniently. “We can nitpick what the Bible says is right and wrong, but I think just having that heart posture of wanting to serve God, it’s so important.”

Ah, so Christian values can be bent when it serves her purposes, but “the church is supposed to control the government.” …Got it. Honestly, it sounds kind of nice to just do whatever you want for yourself while cosplaying for your base as some Christian warrior with guns.

Speaking of, Boebert doesn’t mind making a big stink about public peeing. Not just a stink either, she seems pretty obsessed, and 100% out of her depth. Quick background: There’s a revised Washington DC criminal code that was overturned by Congress earlier this month.

Republicans think the code isn’t hard enough on violent offenses, but Boebert decided to fixate instead on public urination. City Councilman Charles Allen chaired the committee on the revisions, and it became quickly clear that Boebert should not be in a position of power.
https://wegotthiscovered.com/news/lauren-boebert-wont-nitpick-the-bible-but-shes-happy-to-make-a-splash-about-public-urination/

So there you have it. Rep. Boebert is constantly preaching one thing, while her fellow Christians clearly don’t care what rules they choose to follow – or don’t follow! And that has to be some kind of derangement syndrome or something. Mass has ended, may you go in peace! That’s it this week for:

[div style="padding: 20px; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 10px; box-shadow: 0px 2px 4px 1px #aaa;"][div style="font-family: arial, helvetica; font-weight: bold; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999; padding-bottom: 8px;"]
Beating A Dead Horse: Kid Rock Vs Bud Light
[br]
[br]

You know, I think it’s time we asked this question - what do conservatives like anymore? It’s like there’s one of these every week now and it’s getting to be so much that even we can’t keep up. Conservatives now say the word “woke” so much that not only has it lost all meaning, but they couldn’t even tell you what it means! So after they’ve boycotted everything from Keurigs to the NFL to Oreos to McDonalds to Starbucks, what’s left for them? Basically just sit and stare at blank walls and eat stale bread and drink tap water? That sounds about white. The latest outrage from the right wing outrage machine was started by none other than rich white guy from Michigan posing as a dirty redneck southerner, Kid Rock. And it was over another commercial, this time with their favorite shitty beer of choice, Bud Light, partnering with Tik Tok trans activist and model Dylan Mulaney. Yup, that’s what the right wing MAGA dude bros have their underwear in a wad over this week – another commercial. And we don’t expect it to end any time soon, because, woke derangement.

"Grandpa's feeling a little frisky today," Kid Rock said at the start of a video he posted Tuesday on Twitter. Clad in a MAGA hat and sweatshirt advertising the first annual Kid Rock Fish Fry, there were also tears in his eyes.

"Let me say something to all of you," the musician continued, "and be as clear and concise as possible."

Kid Rock then spent the next seven seconds shooting an MP5 submachine gun at a display of Bud Light 12-packs he had ostensibly set up about 50 feet away. As cans of beer exploded — Kid Rock managed to leave an entire case unscathed — he turned back to the camera. "F**k Bud Light," he said, "and f**k Anheuser-Busch." Before the 35-second clip faded to black, he also flipped off the camera.

You may be wondering why the 52-year singer (or redneck cosplayer, depending on your persuasion) took the time to tearfully schlep a folding table topped with beer onto a field. Though Kid Rock doesn't offer an explanation in the video, it comes after other right-wing pundits have labeled Bud Light "the beer of groomers" over the brand's partnership with transgender influencer and activist Dylan Mulvaney.

It's the latest instance of a conservative public figure calling for a bad-faith boycott against a food brand they feel has been drafted into the culture wars. These boycotts are often comically short-lived, such as when former President Donald Trump called on his supporters to skip drinking Coca-Cola after the soda manufacturer spoke out against restrictive voting laws in its home state of Georgia — only for online sleuths to quickly point out a half-drunk bottle of Diet Coke on his desk just a few days later. Each week, it seems as though conservatives have a new nemesis, from Ben & Jerry's and Coke to M&M's and Oreo.
https://www.salon.com/2023/04/07/the-groomer-of-beers-conservatives-vow-to-boycott-bud-light-over-partnership-with-trans-activist/

Except these beers ain’t free! You know here’s the thing MAGAs, you can destroy all the things you want, and you can shoot 12 packs of Bud Light because they don’t agree with the things you don’t agree with. But let me spell it out for you – they already got your money! And also let me educate you on something about the beer industry – there’s something like 3 companies that control over 200 different brands. There’s Anheuser-Bush. There’s MillerCoors, and there’s Constellation Brands. That’s a lot of different beers out there. But apparently just one has the conservative outrage machine losing their collective shit right now.

Bud Light is facing a boycott after partnering with transgender influencer and activist Dylan Mulvaney.

On Sunday, Mulvaney posted a video to her 1.7 million Instagram followers in which she explained that Bud Light had sent her a personalized can with her face on it to commemorate 365 days of being a girl. Mulvaney's Day 365 Of Girlhood video series has been a viral success and has charted her first year of transitioning.

However, the partnership has drawn condemnation from some social media users, prompting calls for a boycott. Bud Light, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch, is not the first brand to face calls for people to stop using over its partnership with transgender activists. Chocolate makers Hershey's also faced a similar response to an advertising campaign in February after including a transgender rights activist's face on special chocolate bar wrappers in Canada for International Women's Day.

The row over transgender brand ambassadors is symbolic of a wider debate about the inclusion of transgender women in female issues and spaces. Some say transgender women should be treated the same as other women, while others say they are different and that hard-won women's rights must be protected.

Seriously these guys don’t even know what they are mad at anymore. Imagine that your masculinity is so toxic that it’s threatened by a beer advertisement. Like what the fuck dude bros? At this point it’s practically insane to list all of the boycotts the MAGA dude bros have undertaken since the Colin Kapernick shit they forced on us back in 2016. But let’s face it, no one holds a grudge, and no one does conspiracy theories like the MAGAs do. Some good news though is that at least there’s some sanity in this argument. To which we say at what point does it end? Well, never. It will never end.

At this point, social media spats between celebrities happen as often as the blink of an eye. However, in the wake of several pieces of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation passing across the country, including states like Florida and Tennessee, these feuds have, at times, made platforms like Twitter a cesspool of bigotry, homophobia, and transphobia. While some musicians, including Madonna and Yo La Tengo, have used their shows to protest these laws, not all musicians feel the same. Gun-loving, confederate flag-wearing, and MAGA-representing musician Kid Rock and Travis Tritt are on the opposite side of the aisle.

At one point, Rock and Tritt were trending on social media for blasting beer company Anheuser-Busch. That led users to wonder why are Rock and Tritt mad at Bud Light and its parent company? Well, the musicians didn’t take too kindly to Bud Light featuring trans activist and TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney in their latest advertisement campaign.

Kid Rock took to social media to upload a video of himself shooting cases of beer with a semi-automatic weapon. Travis Tritt declared he would be dropping the brand from his tour hospitality rider. Users are calling out the musicians for the views, but Rock has been receiving the bulk of the blowback because of his use of the semi-automatic weapon.

Jason Isbell chimed in to voice his disgust with Rock. Also, a Parkland shooting parent took to Twitter to call out Rock for ignoring the facts that children trans or cishet alike have unfortunately been victims of mass shootings at the hand of semi-automatic owners.
https://uproxx.com/indie/kid-rock-travis-tritt-mad-bud-light-anheuser-busch-boycott/

Yeah that’s about how we feel here too! But the one thing we do know – is that if you already have a case of Bud Light sitting in your fridge, destroying it won’t prove anything except that you’re a spoiled child who whines about the slightest bit of progress being made. So what if a company is showing progress and advancement in humanity? Well, don’t tell that to Marjorie Greene, or anyone who might be switching over to Coors. Because for you crybaby MAGA dude bro Bud Light drinkers who won’t shut up about the brand’s partnership with a trans influencer, well, you won’t like what the competition has to offer, either. Just shut up and drink your tap water. At some point, they’ll complain about tap water being too woke too.

Half of America's bestselling beers have partnered with LGBTQ+ groups or advocates according to an analysis by Newsweek, as conservative activists launch a boycott of Bud Light over its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

On Sunday Mulvaney shared a video promoting Bud Light to her 1.7 million Instagram followers, as part of a partnership with the company, which she thanked for sending over a personalized beer can to celebrate her "day 365 of womanhood," after transitioning.

This infuriated some right-wing commentators, including writer Matt Walsh and podcast host Mike Crispi, who announced they will boycott Bud Light in response. Musician Kid Rock posted a video of himself shooting Bud Light cans, while country artist Travis Tritt said he was taking the beer off his tour rider.

Over the past few years, a fierce debate has developed over transgender rights, with a particular focus on whether trans women should be able to access women's only spaces and take part in women's sports. Republicans have moved to ban gender-affirming care for children in 26 states across the U.S.

Conspiracy Corner
[br]
[br]

Welcome back to our segment that attempts to explain the unexplainable, Conspiracy Corner! Of course conspiracies exist when people simply don’t want to read the article past the headlines and just flat out make shit up. We of course are coming to you live from our underground doomsday shelter from deep within the New Mexico badlands. Undisclosed location, of course! Let me just adjust my trusty tin foil hat for maximum government interference. They are trying to read yours and my thoughts after all! So folks, in the last two weeks, we’ve seen an abundance of candidates throw their hat in the ring for a chance to unseat our 46th president, Joseph R. Biden. Everyone from former Arksansas governor Asa Hutchinson to former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley to some guy who wrote a book about “wokism”, Vivek Ramaswamy. But out of all of those candidates, one of them is currently sticking out like a sore thumb. That candidate is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Now if you don’t know the name, he’s the famous son of Robert F. Kennedy. And he’s also a notorious online anti-vaxxer troll.

Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an anti-vaccine activist and scion of one of the country's most famous political families, is running for president.

Kennedy filed a statement of candidacy Wednesday with the Federal Election Commission.

The 69-year-old's campaign to challenge incumbent President Biden for the Democratic nomination is a long shot. Self-help author Marianne Williamson is also running in the Democratic race.

Kennedy, a nephew of President John F. Kennedy and the son of his slain brother Robert F. Kennedy, was once a bestselling author and environmental lawyer who worked on issues such as clean water.

But more than 15 years ago, he became fixated on a belief that vaccines are not safe. He emerged as one of the leading voices in the anti-vaccine movement, and his work has been described by public health experts and even members of his own family as misleading and dangerous.

OK look… I think it’s safe to say that we’re finally on the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic that’s crippled the world for the last three years. But one thing is for sure – we have been putting up with anti-vaxxer shit for that entire length of time. Do we really need this guy representing the party? And I answer that question with: “Hell fucking no!!!”. But in fact there’s much more to this, and RFK Jr even ranks as the least popular Kennedy among the Kennedy family. You know that RFK Jr has absolutely no chance in hell that RFK Jr will get elected. So why is he running for president, anyways?

Following news that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. filed paperwork to challenge Joe Biden for the presidency in 2024, a source tells PEOPLE that the two political families find themselves in an interesting spot, as many Kennedys have enjoyed a longtime friendship with the Bidens.

"President Biden is hugely popular in the Kennedy family," the source says. Throughout his half-century career in politics, Biden has connected with multiple Kennedys on multiple fronts, including their shared Catholic faith, familiarity with loss and, of course, political influence.

Biden is only the second Irish Catholic president in United States history, the first being John F. Kennedy, and he has credited JFK's presidency in part with piquing his interest in politics. When Biden entered Senate at the young age of 30, Sen. Ted Kennedy — who also joined Senate as a 30-year-old — became something of a mentor to him, sparking a longtime friendship between the two.

The Kennedys' widespread ties with Biden are not the only reason that Bobby Jr.'s 2024 presidential campaign comes with mixed feelings in the Kennedy family.

In recent years, Bobby Jr., an environmental lawyer, has ostracized himself for becoming a vocal anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist, spreading misinformation about vaccinations long before — and during — the COVID-19 pandemic.

You know, we’ll never fully understand just how quickly people turned on vaccines, but it’s insane that they did and the damage is definitely done. So if the campaign he’s running is what one would call a “sinking ship”, then what’s the point of the run? Well, of course there’s a far more sinister motive at work behind the scenes here. Because as we all know, there’s some very dark forces at work in this country aiming to take this country in some very dark directions. If he’s running and he has no chance of winning, it’s more about sending a message than it is to actually, you know, run for something. What’s that message, you might ask? Well… it’s complicated.

Among Democratic voters, the appetite for an anti-vax presidential candidate might seem next to nonexistent. But that’s not stopping Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—the 69-year-old son of former US attorney general Bobby Kennedy and nephew of John F. Kennedy—from throwing his hat in the ring. A leading figure in the anti-vaccine movement for nearly 20 years, Kennedy is now gearing up to challenge Joe Biden in the Democratic primary, and submitted a statement of candidacy to the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday.

According to CBS News correspondent Robert Costa, the fantastical long shot bid was contrived by Trumpworld power broker Steve Bannon, who had reportedly spent months urging Kennedy to run in the hopes that he might sow chaos on the left. (Vanity Fair has reached out to Kennedy for comment.) Kennedy also has ties to other shady figures in Donald Trump’s orbit: In July 2021, as the right’s hysteria over COVID-19 vaccines was in full swing, a photo shared on Instagram showed Kennedy posing with Roger Stone, the notorious “dirty trickster” of the Republican Party, and Michael Flynn, the former Trump national security adviser turned QAnon influencer. The picture was reportedly taken at an event hosted by ReAwaken America, a Christian nationalist touring group made for and by QAnon followers, anti-vaxxers, and election deniers––a crowd that, needless to say, has very little overlap with the Democratic voters Kennedy would need to win in a primary bid.

It is more than likely, then, that Kennedy is part of an oddball right-wing plot to pester Biden in what could otherwise be a mostly uncontested primary. (As of now, self-help author Marianne Williamson is the only other Democrat in the race.) The 80-year-old president has yet to reveal his reelection plans.

Of course! There’s always got to be some kind of sinister motive behind all of this. But come on, RFK Jr, we see through you. You can’t hang out with notorious right wing conspiracy theorist Roger Stone and expect to get away with it! Come on, now! So what – or should I say – who – is propping up this nonsense and encouraging him to run? You know what? Let’s channel our inner Scooby Doo here and pull off the mask and see who it really is. STEVE BANNON??? And he would have got away with it too, if it wasn’t for those meddling liberals!

Former chief Trump strategist Steve Bannon spent "months" encouraging anti-vaxxer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to run against President Joe Biden in the 2024 election, according to a report from CBS News.

People familiar with the matter told the outlet that Bannon hoped Kennedy could serve as a "useful chaos agent" in the election while also spreading "anti-vaccine sentiment around the country," according to CBS News' Robert Costa.

"If I run, my top priority will be to end the corrupt merger between state and corporate power that has ruined our economy, shattered the middle class, polluted our landscapes and waters, poisoned our children, and robbed us of our values and freedoms. Together we can restore America's democracy," he wrote.

Kennedy has been accused of playing a leading role in "spreading digital misinformation about Covid vaccines" by the Center for Countering Digital Hate. He also issued an apology last year after saying that Americans hesitant to vaccines had it worse than Anne Frank, who lived through the Nazi occupation of Germany.

I Need A Drink
[ [br]
[br]

Hey everyone, I don’t know about you, but I could really use a drink!

So of course you know the idea behind this segment is that we have some drinks. And while we are drinking, we talk about anything else in the news as long as it doesn’t involve politics. Because there’s a lot of incredibly dark shit in the news right now and the last thing that we need to do is mix it with alcohol, because that almost never ends well. Well this week, we’re going to talk about 80s heavy metal legends Mötley Crüe. So tell me, bartender, what goes well with a story about Motley Crue? Just plain black coffee? Oh it’s because they’re sober isn’t it? Well we don’t do that around here, but we do respect our sober brothers and sisters! We’re going to stick with our usual Jack Daniels mixed with Jack Daniels. I call it the Double Jack! Well, anyway I’m lucky I got to see Motley Crue on the Stadium Tour last year at their home stop at SoFi Stadium. Because if the way things are currently trending, we’re not sure what the future holds for one of the bands that famously built the Sunset Strip. But it does seem like this was a powder keg waiting to go off. And you know that I love a good beef. But this is one of the beefiest beefs to ever beef.

Guitarist Mick Mars, who cofounded Mötley Crüe in 1981, has filed a lawsuit against the band, claiming they ousted him from the group and cut him out of profits. Mars has asked a judge to allow him to inspect the band’s business records and to be awarded attorneys’ fees and other unspecified money.

The lawsuit, obtained by Rolling Stone, claims that Mars (real name Robert Alan Deal) announced he could no longer tour with the group due to his ongoing battle with ankylosing spondylitis — a disease that causes vertebrae to fuse — but that he would still participate in residencies and concerts that don’t involve excessive travel. According to the suit, the group then decided to “fire” Mars via a shareholders’ meeting as an officer of Crüe’s corporation and six other related businesses.

The defendants in the lawsuit include Mötley Crüe Touring, Inc., Mötley Crüe, Inc., Red, White and Crue, Inc., Masters 2000, Inc., Cruefest, LLC, Mötley Records, LLC and Masters 2008, LLC, among other unnamed business entities and people associated with Crüe’s corporations. Mars claims he’s a 25 percent shareholder in each of the businesses.

Mars also alleges he requested to see business docs from each corporation to assess whether their actions were legal but was so far denied.

Yeah so Mick Mars’ retirement from the Crue wasn’t exactly a “so long, happy trails, off the sunset you go” kind of retirement. It’s been, to use the technical term, a “clusterfuck”. But apparently there was a lot going on during last year’s Stadium Tour that we didn’t see because it was going on behind the scenes, and it was truly disastrous. But the increasing use of hyperbole in the articles suggest that things aren’t exactly going great in the world of the Crue. That’s the best and also worst thing about living in the age of excessive clickbait. You either know where someone stands, or you don’t.

When news broke yesterday that Mick Mars was suing his former bandmates in Mötley Crüe, there was one thing that kept coming to mind: “boy, this is going to get messy.” And much like a drunken college kid with a bad case of vertigo, shit got messy real quick, as both camps have since elaborated on the allegations and fired back at one another.

According to the lawsuit, Mars originally intended to remain a member of the band when he announced he was retiring from a majority of his touring duties. He said that he wanted to stick around to record new songs and occasionally join the band on stage to perform, since his life-long battle with Ankylosing Spondylitis had finally become too much for the now 71-year-old rocker to handle on tour.

Yet despite his intentions, Mars said he was summarily kicked out of the band and had his share of tour profits slashed from 25% down to 5%.

In response to Mars’ lawsuit, the band’s attorney Sasha Frid issued a statement to Variety, claiming that Mars actually resigned from the band and that the remaining members actually did right by Mars in the end.

See, Nikki Sixx recently said that we should make alcohol illegal because it leads to people making terrible decisions. Well let’s just say that he’s half right about that. It does lead to people making terrible decisions, but we tried making alcohol illegal once and it backfired big time. But anyway, like most things in this day and age, it gets weird. And well, here’s the gist of it. Nikki is saying that they propped up Mick for years, now Mick is saying that he propped up the rest of the band for years. At least it’s not Queensryche, where Geoff Tate tried to fight the band with their own equipment, then sued them for control of the name and made an entirely different band with the same name, but it’s definitely way up there!

The estrangement between Mötley Crüe and their former guitarist Mick Mars continues to get messier. When Mars retired from touring due to his health condition ankylosing spondylitis, the plan was that he would remain a member of the band. But he sued Mötley Crüe this week, claiming that they’d “unilaterally” kicked him out of the band and reduced his percentage of their profits from 25% to 5%.

“After the last tour, Mick publicly resigned from Mötley Crüe,” the band’s attorney Sasha Frid told Variety. “Despite the fact that the band did not owe Mick anything — and with Mick owing the band millions in advances that he did not pay back — the band offered Mick a generous compensation package to honor his career with the band. Manipulated by his manager and lawyer, Mick refused and chose to file this ugly public lawsuit.”

Frid also said that Mars can’t draw a distinction between retiring from touring and quitting the band because at this phase in Mötley Crüe history, “the band’s primary function is to tour and perform concerts,” and the band’s legal team provided statements from seven road crew members indicating Mars could no longer remember or execute his parts.

Yeah so band breakups are a mixed bag. They can be a total shit show like Motley Crue, or Queensryche, or Steely Dan, or Fleetwood Mac. Or they can also be the other way around and be like Metallica or 311, where you can work with the same people for 30+ years and cruise to stadium filling gigs like Desert Trip, where you can spend the GDP of a small country for general admission tickets and a somewhat decent hotel package. Well, we don’t expect this little feud to wrap up any time soon, but the he said – they said is going to get really intense, and we’ll follow it while it happens.

Per the lawsuit, Mars informed the band before their world tour with Def Leppard began that due to his pain, the United States leg would be his last tour. He also allegedly told them he would not be retiring and that he would be available for recording.

Mars, whose real name is Robert Alan Deal, is also claiming that Sixx, 64, "gaslighted" him by telling him that his guitar playing was "subpar" due to his illness, which he was diagnosed with at 27.

"Sixx's gaslighting came to a crescendo during the stadium tour, when he, knowing that this was Mars's last tour as a result of his increasingly painful and debilitating AS, and apparently already plotting to force him out of the band and take his shares, repeatedly told Mars that he was playing the wrong chords, and that fans were complaining about his playing," the lawsuit read.

From the Gun Nut Conference, we have Missouri and Montana! And last, but certainly not least, from the Family Values Conference, we have Tennessee and Utah! Last week it was one for the ages. And we really mean that! Tennessee ultimately prevailed with a last second 3 pointer to sink Arkansas, who wasn’t going down without a fight, it was a truly incredible matchup! Meanwhile, over in the Batshit Conference, Arizona dominated South Dakota to play heavily favored Florida! This week it’s the Fiscal Irresponsibility Conference championships – Ohio vs Kansas! We’re live from the home of the Seattle Kraken, the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle for all the exciting action! Let’s go the floor, shall we?

Fiscal Irresponsibility Conference Round 2: Kansas Vs Ohio

Kansas

The Kansas Jayhawks are back and they are favorites in the Fiscal Irresponsibility Conference for one reason – greed! And boy is there some greed in the Sunflower State. Kansas is of course the home to the right wing billionaires that everyone loves to hate – Koch Industries. But the biggest story out of the Sunflower State currently is a massive food tax problem. But the problem is that once again, conservatives favor the party of the rich and they don’t care about anyone else. Yet they say that they care about you, the working class. Because that’s what the GOP does. Bottom line: don’t vote with just your wallet, because it never ends well.

Lawmakers on Tuesday debated the merits of a flat tax proposal that would lower revenues by an estimated $1.5 billion annually and disproportionately benefit the state’s wealthiest residents.

Rep. Christina Haswood, a Lawrence Democrat, questioned during a House committee hearing why the Legislature should favor the flat tax over more equitable tax cut proposals. Democrats, including Gov. Laura Kelly, favor the immediate elimination of the sales tax on food, feminine hygiene products and back-to-school supplies.

Adam Proffitt, the state budget director, estimated that the proposal would decrease the state’s general fund revenue by $428 million in fiscal year 2024, and then by $1.452 billion and $1.541 billion in the next two fiscal years.

The Kansas Reflector asked the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy, a nonprofit that provides research on state and federal tax policies, for an analysis of the legislation. The institute calculated that 49% of the individual income tax reduction would go to the richest 20% of Kansans. The state’s bottom 20% of earners would get about 4.1% of the tax reduction.
https://hayspost.com/posts/71958137-49c7-4633-ae4e-07242ff005e0

Yes, that’s the point – everyone always wants more, more, more! So what’s the solution to that, you might ask? Well, I answer you, sir or madam – the answer is to offset with a food tax! Which of course means more money for Koch Industries! Yeah, that’s the same old story time and time again – the rich get richer, while the poor get screwed. Fox News and corporate greed – it’s the reason why we can’t have nice things.

Kansas lawmakers passed a tax cut package in the early Friday morning hours that fuses a flat tax rate for individual income with an accelerated reduction in the state sales tax on food, corporate tax breaks and residential property tax relief.

The policies assembled into Senate Bill 169 add up to $1.3 billion in decreased state tax collections over the next three years, with more than half of the cost associated with the flat tax. The bill eliminates the sales tax on food at the start of next year.

“To me, it’s always a priority to get it back to taxpayers instead of growing government, and that’s that this bill does, and it does it very nicely,” said Caryn Tyson, a Parker Republican who chairs the Senate tax committee. “It considers everybody, from low income tax to everybody.”

Legislators worked past 4 a.m. to finalize a long list of last-minute deals before taking a three-week break. They will return at the end of April to attempt an override of any legislation vetoed by Gov. Laura Kelly, and to put the final touches on state spending and other policy ideas.

Ohio

The Buckeye State has finally found their home in the Fiscal Irresponsibility Conference! When we last checked in, they had taken out Wisconsin thanks to a series of train derailments, while their representatives at the state level are fighting over bullshit culture war issues that they had heard about on Fox News. Well, the shit hitting the fan surrounding the Norfolk Southern incident has hit the proverbial fan, because it’s getting real. And it’s getting to the point where it’s going to start affecting a whole lot of people in various different ways. Again, folks, don’t vote with your wallet because this is the kind of shit that happens when you do.

Seven US government investigators briefly fell ill in early March while studying the possible health impacts of a toxic train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed to CNN on Thursday.

The investigators’ symptoms included sore throats, headaches, coughing and nausea – consistent with what some residents experienced after the February 3 train derailment that released a cocktail of hazardous chemicals into the air, water and soil.

The investigators who experienced symptoms were part of a team conducting a house-to-house survey in an area near the derailment, and they immediately reported their symptoms to federal safety officers.

“Symptoms resolved for most team members later the same afternoon, and everyone resumed work on survey data collection within 24 hours. Impacted team members have not reported ongoing health effects,” a CDC spokesperson said in the statement.

The illnesses are coming to light after repeated assurances by government officials and representatives from Norfolk Southern, the company that operated the train, that the air and drinking water in East Palestine is not hazardous to health.

Yes, holy shit indeed! So how does the Ohio state legislature respond? By fighting about bullshit culture war issues because that’s all Tucker Carlson talks about! Yes, it’s the same old story time and time again – Fox News keeps us fighting with each other over bullshit culture war issues while the right wing consolidates all the wealth and power in this country. This is how they keep stealing elections, schoolboards, courts, you name it. I tell you, right wing politics is an absolute racket in this country and it's really starting to show.

Between debates on an income tax cut and the cost of educating children, Ohio's Republican-controlled Legislature is waging culture wars on everything from abortion and guns to transgender medical treatments.

Polling suggests Americans care far more about inflation, the cost of living and immigration than abortion, guns, religious declines or LGBTQ rights, according to a recent Gallup poll of the nation's most important problems.

But that doesn't stop social issues from dominating debates at the Ohio Statehouse. Here are some of the recent proposals:

Abortion battles after Roe v. Wade
The biggest threat to abortion access in Ohio is actually a proposal to make it more difficult to amend the state constitution.

Ohio's Republican lawmakers revived several proposals affecting transgender children, including restrictions on medical treatments and participation in sports.

And The Winner Is:

We have a winner! In a stunning upset, Ohio has taken Kansas by a score of 10 going into the last minute of the game… for three… it’s good! A foul has been called. First shot in… yes! Second… oh a miss. But the damage has been done! Ohio takes the Fiscal Irresponsibility Conference and they are going to the Final Four! Final score: 88 – 74! They are celebrating on the court, Ohio has made their first Final Four in NFFSA history! Cut that net guys! You earned it!

Next Week:

Next week, it’s the Gun Nut Conference Championships! Missouri. Montana. One of these states will advance to the Final Four! Who will bring their big guns? Only one way to find out! We’re live at the home of the Florida Panthers, the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida for all the exciting action!
