Ryanair boss: EU should allow us to operate "Standing room only" section on aircraft.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/aviation/9661829/Seatbelts-on-planes-are-pointless-says-Ryanair-boss.html

Michael O’Leary claims legislation forcing passengers to wear seatbelts is useless, unnecessary and insisted upon only by authorities he deems “plonkers”.

Those wishing to fly on holiday should instead be permitted to stand at the back on a plane, which he considers to be “just a b----- bus with wings”.

Mr O’Leary, the chief executive of budget airline Ryanair, dismissed the notion seatbelts were an essential safety requirement, saying: “If there ever was a crash on an aircraft, God forbid, a seatbelt won’t save you.”
"Seatbelts don't matter,” he proclaimed.

"You don't need a seatbelt on the London Underground. You don't need a seatbelt on trains which are travelling at 120mph and if they crash you're all dead..."

He really thinks it's a bus? Do buses look comfortable? Does he feel steady walking around a plane? Indpndnt Nov 2012 #5

Provided that I was only taking a flight for a maximum of two hours. Prices were cheap, and the flights were on time (One of the pilots was so eager to land on time, I could have sworn he learned to fly at Stuka Flying School).

Mr O’Leary is known for his forthright pronouncements on airline policies. He has already suggested charging passengers to use Ryanair toilets, suggested environmentalists should be shot and proclaimed an “astonishing” number of his customers want to tax and torture fat people.

One bit of turbulence and people are liable to come flying into those seated. One person with serious injuries and that airline would be done. That man's an idiot.

I thought this had to be from The Onion. But, no, he really is just that stupid.

That's why... This guy is full of crap.. And there is turbulence in Europe. During the winter the EU is storm friendly. This guy will go to any means to make a euro.. About the globe there are hundreds of airline flight attendants who are injured each year, due to turbulence; because often while we are buckled in , they are working and sometimes in harms way as a result.

So long as these individuals are free from creating injury to passangers who choose to sit...I say let 'em stand.
