Over in LBN there's a thread headlined, "BREAKING -Public Records Reveal Romney Profited From Corruption, Fraud & Racketeering at Bain"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1014&pid=289470
In that thread there's discussion about pretty awful stuff like perjury, clerks and judges conspiring to hide lawsuits until after the election, and bankruptcy fraud. Sounds like this had roots going all the way back to 2001, and those roots went fairly deep into the DOJ. Do read the whole thread if you have time because it does a nice job of illustrating a pattern of not so secret corruption involving Mitt Romney and some other fairly well known names.
I was reading in that thread and it occurred to me that more than one person here at DU had made the comment that they really thought that Ryan was the preferred candidate for a lot of the big money people. There was a general recognition that Ryan was not "electable" due to his extreme positions on so many of the hot button issues, however, so he was the VP rather than the candidate.
Is it possible that Ryan waiting in the wings for the hammer to come down on Romney? Force a resignation out of Romney and suddenly, you'd have the "un-electable" Ryan at the helm for the balance of that term, plus you'd have time to make sure he won his next election...
Is it possible the US dodged an even bigger bullet than we all realized?

(57 posts)My very, very conservative father thought this and it scared him. He said there is no way the right wing wanted Romney as President. He said if Romney was elected he wouldn't finish his first term. He would either die or a scandal would bring him down and Ryan would be the President. He said that Romney was just a vehicle to get Ryan into office. That was the reason he voted for President Obama. I was shocked when he told me he voted for President Obama.
That's pretty interesting....

(36,063 posts)but I actually think the plutocrats thought they had what they wanted:
A presidential with no ideas of his own who will gladly accept their boiler plates,
and a VP candidate who actually believes in the stuff.

(93 posts)Feel as if Mitt was a poor candidate who would not scare off the mainstream but was unelectable. That the problems with the economy could not be fixed in the next 4 years and then the blame would not be on the republican party, the corporations and banks but on Obama and the left.

(13,421 posts)I honestly think the story you have to tell is important. I know there was a lot of tension about Romney, but I think that if more people finally realize just what he is they might be more critical thinkers in the future. We got WAY too near the edge for my taste.
