FYI about the Allen West (R-Crazytown, Lame Duckville) "recount"

It's not really a "recount" like what we think of a recount.

From what I read, he's not claiming that voter's were disenfranchised or that validly cast votes weren't counted (a la Al Gore in 2000).

Looks instead he's claiming--let me try to get this right--that election officials added[/] votes for Murphy and/or subtracted votes for West by tampering with voting tabulators.

(Excerpt)

Edson blasted the county’s top elections official, Gertrude Walker, and threatened legal action if the campaign didn’t get a hand recount. A West news release said Walker’s office locked the door to polling places, which Edson said was “in direct violation of Florida law, thereby preventing the public from witnessing the procedures used to tabulate results.”

“The St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections office clearly ignored proper rules and procedures, and the scene at the Supervisor’s office last night could only be described as complete chaos,” Edson said in a statement.

Yes, I know.

He's crazy.

But you know he's also a yellow bellied coward to boot?

West never left a separate room at the Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach Resort & Marina in Stuart, where he watched the results with his family. The 500 supporters who funneled in and out didn’t get a glimpse of the congressman.

State Sen. Joe Negron and state Rep. William Snyder, both Stuart Republicans, played surrogate for West all night. Each gave sparse updates on the results, explaining why West hadn’t appeared at the party and then assuring he’d be down shortly.

Didn't even care to show his face. Patrick Murphy on the other hand came out - talked to the media - and was having a fun time celebrating even when he was down by a few hundred votes.

Patrick Murphy has class. Allen West - not so much

....which is Rep. Wasserman Schultz district, so he went to run in District 22. Then, after he was elected there, he was too scared to run for re-election there, so he ran to District 18, which he thought was more friendly.

And yesterday, District 18 rejected him as well.

Brave, brave Sir Allen bravely ran away.

The thing is you have to be there before 8pm when the polls close and the doors DO close, but then you can watch the breakdown and count.

I watched because our old fashioned ballot scanner broke down first thing in the morning and we only had 600 ballots that scanned correctly for voters. The rest had to be fed by hand into the scanner. 1,500 plus ballots. Took from 7:40ish to about 11:40ish and there were a few voters who took precedence in that 1st half hour.

He could have sent someone, but they had to be just a citizen, no cameras, no reporting ahead of time to the press.

that when the machines do flip it's the opposite way around. The repub party may not want anyone to see what 's in those machines. They are proprietary anyway, no one but the company that makes them can look at the code.
