My thanks to DU

I want to thank everyone here for what you've done for our country and for me personally.

The ideas and takes on politics that percolate here, become refined and understandable through the process of our discussions, and then fan out to our families, friends, coworkers, and even sometimes the media, makes a difference. Everyone here should get a heartfelt pat on the back.

As for me, I was prepared to sort of sit this election out a while back. I'm busy, I have kids, and had convinced myself that it was enough to give the people I know encouragement and vote myself. But reading posts here about the work others were doing kept gnawing at me, and I finally called a friend in Fl and offered to man a poll there as outside voting rights counsel. We didn't have many problems (mostly because the inside poll watcher I was teamed with was the best I have ever seen), but I was awed by what I saw and experienced. The determination of these Americans, young and old, and from all walks of life, to FIGHT for their right to cast a vote, and the satisfaction on their faces when -more often than not - they were able to do so, was what it was all about. I am re-energized. So thanks to everyone. And let's keep it up.
