Where will you be tomorrow?

I already voted. I'm on a short business road trip. Will be working in the AM and then a four hour drive. Will be listening to Big Eddie and Randi Rhodes for my drive home.

Then spend a little time with FAM and then MSNBC and DU all evening.

Then work, where I will pretend to work while obsessively googling all day. Then I'll take some time off to fret until 10pm or so. Then I'll obsessively google for the next four hours or so until it is over.

Back to the office, tutoring for an hour, and collapsing in front of the TV trying not To bite my nails down to the first knuckle.

We got more than half of our voters to vote early, so I'm hoping it will be a manageable day.

Unfortunately, it's a solid red precinct (about 27% D and 73% R). Theoretically, I shouldn't be Election Officer because I'm a Democrat but I'm the best one they've got so they always give me the busiest precincts that have the most problems and hard to manage voters. What can I say? I do the best I can to be sure voters are treated the best they can be treated when sometimes the issues (lines, need for Voter ID, don't show up on the Registered Voters List) get to be very emotional. Good customer service and an empathetic ear when they can't vote. Part of it is that I make sure they fill out the Application form so that they'll be on the list next time and/or fill out a Provisional Ballot in case it gets approved to be counted. I know that most of them will be invalidated (no ID, not on the Registered Voters List) but people at least feel that they were treated well.

And, I don't put up with any bullshit about campaigning in the voting area or political chit-chat among the poll workers.

Firm but kind. It works here. It's an exhausting day but oddly invigorating.

Also, many of the voters know me (I've run for office twice) and they respect me. I got 75% of the vote in my precinct, a deep R district. Unfortunately, I couldn't manage enough votes outside my are to win. Turned out to be a blessing because my husband was diagnosed with cancer a year after the election I lost and I had the time to spend a lot of his last two years helping him deal with his illness.

It must not be easy in your geographic area but certainly appreciate your efforts in the name of democracy. Good luck tomorrow!

I didn't make it until 7:25, but still pretty quiet there. no observers yet (I'm in western WI), just the same kind faces I see every election.

I'll get there about 6:30 AM, be there about 12 hours, come home to barn chores, and will not check in until morning when it's all over. I expect to collapse in exhaustion and be asleep before the polls close here on the left coast.

I voted 2 weeks ago.

Will be driving a van full of people to the polling place in the morning, then I have an early afternoon van full of voters to drive to the polls.

After that, I have to hop a greyhound bus out of town and head back to work. I'll have my iPhone with me so I can keep up with the returns while I'm on the road

Might go out for some retail therapy so I'm not tempted to stay on DU all day. Then I'll be cooking something good to eat for dinner and then snacking purposes. Chilling something bubbly. Then I'll be glued to the TV, probably MSNBC and checking in here periodically.

I am really working hard to be upbeat. No one is going to rain on my parade! I think we got this and now just have to wait until it's official!!
