(19,339 posts)Did you know that anyone can write anything they damn well please on a receipt? IT'S TRUE.
No one would write that for real.

(6,530 posts)I had people write "God bless you" in the tip line back in those bad old days. And I was a terrific server.

(23,973 posts)The 'single mom sorry' printing does not match the printing style under the signature.
Someone else put that on the tip line.
The tip might have been paid in cash, and the meal put on the credit card, leaving that line blank.
This looks like a repeat of the debunked 'get a real job' receipt punk job that the gullible swallowed whole.

(62,270 posts)Possibly mens rights misogynistic crap since this was originally posted to Reddit.

(28,876 posts)I know servers get paid shit. And while I *hope* they claim my cash tip for tax purposes, I'll leave that up to them.

(62,270 posts)Though servers can get paid way more than even the managers if they're really good. Tipping is still the right thing to do.

(417 posts)How you could rack up a $140 restaurant bill and not even consider beforehand how much tip to leave. Clearly they don't value being waited on.

(2,372 posts)This appears to be fake.

(417 posts)...but this stuff goes on all the time for wait staff.

(62,270 posts)Single mother? Spent that much on one meal? Couldn't tip $10? Waiters in the US getting half minimum wage, relying on tips? etc, etc.
This hit Reddit a week ago and the drama way intense.
I think it's probably real (that is, someone wrote that on a receipt), but whether the story itself is real is questionable.

(62,270 posts)Having seen that one again it does seem like photoshop could come into play here, it doesn't look photoshoped to me, but I could be wrong. But I never bought the story.

(5,963 posts)There are various generators out there that could easily produce a receipt like this. Without more information, there is no reason to believe in this pictures authenticity, as it is too easily faked.
