You know it. The big storms are more frequent now.
Who do you want running the federal government when the inevitable occurs?
Are you watching?
Think about that when you vote.

(38,187 posts)How many DUers from North Carolina and Florida do you think are planning to vote otherwise? Why didn't you also single out SC and Georgia while you were at it....and Alabama and Mississippi? Why single out just Florida and North Carolina and why act like DUers from these two states are not already planning to vote for Obama?
Are you listening?
Think about that when you single out North Carolinians and Floridians on DU.

(53 posts)Huge turn out here in Charlotte for early voting. Still hopeful that we'll be "blue" when it's all said and done. I have to believe FL will go to Obama, too.

(14,337 posts)I don't worry about PEOPLE voting for Obama, but FLORIDA stealing their votes for the Republican candidates, even more so now with the FRAUD Governor Rick Scott.
I was given a receipt saying I voted, but it didn't say WHO I voted for. I told the poll worker that THIS was the problem. Was my vote SWITCHED? No way to know THAT.

(20,998 posts)There is only one way for the South to rise again, and that is to put aside it's centuries long bigotry and accept the fact that skin color is only skin deep, and beyond skin color, we are 99.6% identical. We are all the same on the inside.
The other fact for the South to accept: A man of mixed white and black heritage is by far and above the most qualified and capable candidate for President of the United States.

(19,841 posts)I think you need to be talking to hurricane prone GA and SC perhaps?
on this negative baiting
FL has massive vote rigging and suppression issues. Ohio has been better able to knock that back. But the two states are comparable as far as relative numbers of red vs blue voters.
NC has serious voting issues also and an entrenched Rethuglicon machine. It's the classic Rural vs Urban tug-of-war in NC.

If you really cared, you'd give the people working so hard on the ground in both NC and FL some support right now, instead of your pompous "baaaad states" jive.
Guess what, people in both states are familiar with storm damage & support FEMA (duh).

(19,841 posts)You'd think these armchair critics would have a little appreciation for the fact that FL And NC were selected to battle THIS well-financed demon this year:
--------------------------
"The Nation magazine, on September 26, 2012, described Sproul as "infamous for accusations that his firms have committed fraud by tampering with Democratic voter registration forms and suppressing votes." It noted that the Romney campaign, from November of 2011 and ending in March 2012, had hired Sproul. It reported that following this, "theres evidence that the payments continued, only to a different name," as only months thereafter, and months before the election, Strategic Allied Consulting was registered online and created as a business entity by Sproul. The Nation also reported that Sproul utilized a proxy that prevented others from seeing that his name as the registrant of the site, but that Greg Flynn of BlueNC had taken a screenshot of the Sproul registration of the site for Strategic Allied Consulting before his name was hidden from view.[12]
Furthermore, The Nation reported that Flynn had found that GOP committees in North Carolina, Florida and Colorado had given Sproul large payments, and that "the firm has been aggressively hiring in Nevada, North Carolina, Virginia and Florida." The Nation also found that the California Republican Party had given $430,840 in payments to "Grassroots Outreach, LLC" an organization which, based on the disclosure reported by The Nation, "shares the same address as Sproul's office in Tempe, Arizona." The Nation also found that "Craigslist job postings in California and Colorado use identical language as Strategic Allied Consulting's listings in North Carolina." (Wiki)

I think they've got our backs in the Southeast, if Rmoney is not elected. I think I trust these people.

(19,841 posts)I could not be more impressed with the registering & GOTV effort in NC. Building for the future no matter what happens.
Voter suppression and eliminating the weaknesses in the e-voting system must be addressed as well.

(53 posts)... Florida and NC are battleground states. He's preaching to the choir with this group, but I understand his point. It's the perfect opportunity to remind voters of the importance of FEMA and the federal government in our lives. We are all in this together folks!
