Sorry, was referencing an old name - related to the hope he would be put in chains for his war crimes

(4,982 posts)...frightened, desperate. He *really* needs Obama and the Fed gov't right now. He'll be nice...for a while. It's a win/win for them both, really.

(13,141 posts)that he's got sad daddy issues, from growing up maybe
with a bullying father. So he became a tough guy and
a fighter but underneath he wants a dad who loves him
more than anything.
When I watched him speaking about Obama, that wasn't
political posturing, that was emotional gratitude. Obama's
kindness, confidence, and appreciation of whatever Christie
is doing -- and Obama's encouragement, and availability,
and leadership -- this is a perfect dad. Christie's in love,
I believe. I think Obama got to his heart.

(14,624 posts)Even the crazy right-wingers, if they had a few minutes to speak directly to him, person-to-person, would be moved by him. Especially at a time like this when PBO has put all politics aside to address a national disaster. He is simply awesome!

(47,430 posts)You just know that Christie can't dislike Obama when he is face-to-face with him. One can disagree with Obama's policies and politics, but I can't see anyone really disliking him if they actually meet him in person. Obama engages people whether they want it or not.

(13,141 posts)working one-on-one with him for a few days in an emergency
situation?
Who wouldn't fall in love? Jeez

(1,085 posts)Maybe he is just a deeply concerned governor grateful for Obamas help in a horrible situation.

(13,141 posts)as I said, it's armchair speculation -- based on observing
his bullying attitude, his weight which may or may not be
a sign of other unmet needs -- and his emotional state
on the day I heard him speak.
You can see your theory proven just in those pictures.

(22,142 posts)I can't imagine what seeing all the devastation of a state you love must feel like. I'm sure President Obama will help console him and give him whatever the state of NJ needs.

(3,205 posts)I love that the president found a competent proffesional for the job of running FEMA, and not some political crony. The results speak for themselves.

(8,377 posts)Setting any other differences aside.
After this election is over, we should all demand that same spirit of cooperation from Congress. There are many other national challenges every bit as big and important as Hurricane Sandy.

(85,996 posts). . . this is all Barack Obama. Christie is following the President's gracious lead. What else COULD he do in the face of such perfect magnanimity?

(27,461 posts)refuse to give Obama credit, come up with some bullshit about the help not being enough. Bobby Jindal did that recently.
anytime they drop the bitter divide and do what they are supposed to do, I feel they deserve credit. My opinion of Gov. Christy has gone up a notch, lets see if it softens or changes how he views the roll of government or of climate science. Anyway,
good for you both, pass it on.

New Jersey really is a swampland now thanks to Sandy and it doesn't matter what political parties are getting the work done what matters is we get the work done!

(3,109 posts)here in DE and MD if the storm had come ashore a meer 100 miles south. We got hurt, they got slammed and brutalized. Obama reached out, and Christie responded in kind. Christie is the Governor of a State that has been devastated, he now understands why the Federal Government exists, and he needs it to function well to save his state. It is a hard lesson, and he has had to eat a great deal of political crow. But his acknowledgement that Obama has responded with urgency and steadfast support shows the greatness of our President. October surprise, thy name is Sandy.

(9,722 posts)about Christie. But not today, the man looks beat, humbled.
This really is what America is about, putting aside our differences to help those in need.
I said a silent prayer for the man and I'm an atheist.
Looks like he needs a good hug.

(13,141 posts)isn't this a remarkable little play we all are watching?
How will it end??
How about they become friends and Obama gets him working out?
I am genuinely & authentically serious.
