You folks are the Democratic Party's edge
Romney and the RW have all the money in the world but everything they do is pathetic.
Why? Because their forces are all mercenaries.
It is not that Democrats believe more, are more committed, more enthused.
It is that enthused Democrats can be trusted with campaign tasks. Enthused Republicans can not.
Republican volunteers do things like using the N word while canvasing. They are excited but not useful.
So everything the RW does involves overpaying workers for simple campaign tasks to achieve predictable mediocre results.
Being able to rely on competent volunteers is a major help. For instance, unions are better at GOTV than a bunch of temp labor can possibly be. They have done it before, and can be left to do it with minimal top-down supervision.
