Holy crap! An insurance salesman just knocked on my door calling Obama a "bald faced fucking liar"

Last edited Fri Oct 26, 2012, 02:05 PM - Edit history (1)

I am FURIOUS!! I am FUMING!! I told him we're not doing business with him. He told me I "must be on the government dole" that Mitt Romney 'won't release his taxes because the democrats are trying to do something'. He said ROMNEY RELEASED HIS COLLEGE RECORDS. I said, "no, he didn't". But the thing that gets me is that I didn't even walk outside until I heard him say, in an insurance sales pitch, mind you, that "Obama was a bald faced fucking liar"

Holy shit! Seriously.

On edit: I wanted to add a comment I posted here, because it might clear some questions up, I am still shaken. Here is the address of the form Dad filled out

INFORMATION PROCESSING CENTER
P.O. BOX 33
LAGRANGE NC 28551-9900

Dad filled out a form, a little green tear off at the bottom form saying he was interested in a final expense life insurance policy since they were closing his plant down and he was losing his life insurance policy (small). After he did this, the door knocking started. About five or six, before this last one, the rightie. So here is the text on the little green tear off:

Dear Laydeebug's elderly Father,

We are proud to announce a Senior Final Expense Program to help pay what Social Security does not pay for your final expense. At present Social Security only pays $255. This Senior Plan will pay 100% of all funeral expenses not paid by Social Security, up to $15,000 for each Senior Citizen covered. To see if you qualify, mail this postage card today. You will not be charged for this information! This is a "FREE" service to you.
Check Benefit Requested: $3,000 $5,000 $7,000 $10,000 $15,000

trying to sell life insurance, asking if we had money set aside for burial, and saying that Obama is a blad faced fucking liar.

That's when I went outside and asked what did he lie about? Name ONE thing he's lied about.

He said his college records. I asked where Mitt's college records were. He said he released them. I said, "No he didn't". He told me I must be on the gov't dole and that's why I want Obama.

I couldn't fucking believe it.

because so many people have caller ID and don't answer their phones for sales calls. Your dad was probably just expecting them to send some info in the mail.

I don't think that guy will last long in sales. No matter what you're selling you need to keep your opinions about politics and religion to yourself if you are marketing to the general public.

I can get pretty wound up myself if I don't take a deep breath first, so I am really just telling you what I would tell myself.

Sometimes I write down what I want to say so that I don't get flustered or off track. If you start with "I have something I'd like to read you, is that okay?" most will say yes and they are less likely to interupt you.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

In any case get the man's name and write a complaint to your state insurance commissioner.

The company is unlikely to care much if he is a good producer.

If he has a history of problems for other reasons the complaint to the State Ins Commissioner is the best route.

I have this one little form and I will be reporting to the Insurance commissioner off of that, for sure.

There really seems to be an "It's ok if you're Republican" swagger. I *promise* this guy said it TWICE before I even showed my face. It was the WAY he said it...like it's common knowledge. Like it's a "given". I am even tempted to think this is part of his sales pitch.

Right now, as I play the 'shoulda coulda woulda' game, I really wished I would have snapped his photo and gotten his name. I wished I would have given him enough rope to REALLY ensnare himself. I may have confronted him too soon. While I began typing this original OP, he was still in my driveway. I wish I would have snapped a photo. It all happened in less than ten minutes...the whole thing.

I am still a little bit in shock over this. I promise on my Grandmother's grave, that man, unsolicited by me, called the President a 'fucking liar" TWICE before I even said one word.

He probably watches too much Fox TV. They keep repeating the same lie about Libya over and over, which represents an old propaganda tactic. When Republicans hear anything that disrupts their delusion, they turn on Fox to reinforce their fantasy.

know why they will be losing your business now and regardless of the election outcome. Let them know that you are sharing your disgust publicly and you will not be pressured by bully tactics. Wonder if the company is one which took Romney's advice on pushing employees.

knock Obama for a vote for Romney. These political operatives do some really strange things, and by what insurance they were offering it would give them a direct link to seniors ... to try to steer their vote toward Romney.

Additional Notes
Complaint Category: None of the Above - Advertising Complaint Issue

Complaint: The card asks for dates of birth, I see this as an Identity Theft Issue or Fraud. There is also no direct contact information, only a PO Box.
This card was given to me by elderly male who received it in the mail from your company. He was concerned that it was a fraud or scam. I am an Elder Service Officer assigned a Senior Center. In addition to the 2 other complaints already received on this company, I have a big problem with asking for the date of birth for the person it was mailed to and for that person's spouse. This information could be used to commit Identity Theft or a scam. I do not think it is necessary for the company to ask for this information. It is obvious that they already know this person is a senior, otherwise they would not have sent this info to them in the first place. Also, there is no phone number, street address, or website information which makes this card seem fraudulent. As a Police Officer with additional training as an Elder Service Officer, not having this contact information usually are clear signs that it is a scam.

Business Response

The advertisement is not a scam, it is for life insurance. Listing the DOB is optional, however it assists us in preparing accurate rate quotes. We are researching different methods of gathering this information in a more private manor. We are also putting together ideas for a web address. This takes time and a considerable amount of resources for our small business to cover.
I hope this helps and thank you for your concern.

Complaint Resolution: Company addressed the complaint issues. The consumer failed to acknowledge acceptance to BBB.

Additional Notes
Complaint Category: Advertisement misrepresented a service

Complaint: The company uses envelope and card that appears to be from the government. Misleads the customer, who is unfamiliar with these types of advertising.
This document was received by my mother, who is elderly, on Monday, October 19, 2009. She gave it to me, stating that she was not sure what it was about, but that it "was from the government." I looked it over and was angered by such a misleading advertising, using an envelope that is normally used by the government and using the term "GOVERNMENT", "Social Security", "REGISTERED DOCUMENT", and "DO NOT DISCARD: Important Information about your government benefits*". I am still trying to figure out what the asterisk at the end of the words "benefits*" is referring to. The indication of that this is not a government agency is written in very small print at the very bottom of the card. My concern is that unsuspecting senior citizens are being misled by this company's use of materials and the presentation of the service they are sneakily providing. If it was able to mislead my mother, it will surely mislead other seniors, unknowingly, who do not have another family member to look over misleading advertising such as this. I am angered that this company would use the elderly as a target market for such advertising practices. They apparently did their research into how to mislead seniors by using envelopes that appear to be from the government. Information Processing Center was sure thinking of the most effective way to get a senior citizen to open and reply. I am very angered and saddened as to how many seniors will be responding, believing that this was sent by the government.

Business Response
It is not our objective to deceive anyone with our advertising. We also did not create this envelope/advertisement to take advantage of our nations financial status or the federal governments involvement. We have used the same ad/envelope for many years and have been able to assist thousands of clients in obtaining the valuable insurance protection they needed. If your mother had responded she would have been informed about specific products available to her and what it would cost. I welcome any suggestions you may have that will help us reach the individuals who need our services.
