Good evening. I am Mad's daughter and it is with a heavy heart that I inform you that she has passed away. I know there are many of you who will grieve her passing. Others maybe not so much. Regardless, her time on this forum was very important to her and filled a lot of her life. Regardless of your opinion of Mad please know that her efforts and her heart were always for the good in this United States of America.
Thank you!

(2,511 posts)I remember her from my lurking days long before I joined DU, and if you don't consider it of poor taste or too avant-garde on my part for me to say, why don't you pick up her mantle and run with it here? Another voice, be it reasoned, hell-raised, or otherwise, is always welcome.
madfloridian
(88,117 posts)but I can't do her justice. Funny story. I was a member of DU, FloriTexan. Mom never disclosed the forums she posted on and guarded her blogging trying to remain annonymous. I saw am educational post of MadFloridian's and noticed it mentioned Polk County, Florida. I emailed my mom with a link to the post and jokingly wrote that LOL Mom...this could be you.
For two weeks she refused to talk to me on the phone with my father intervening and telling me that she was busy. I finally got her on the phone and asked her if she was mad at me for something. That's when she told me she WAS MadFloridian and if I ever disclosed who she was to anyone she would kill me. I believed her. LOL. I was shocked when she disclosed who she was. I really couldn't believe it and she interrogated me to find out how I figured it out. It truly was an accident. I had no idea she was evening blogging at the time. What a coincidence.
After that I decreased my appearance on DU as I knew it made her uncomfortable. It was all too funny and we were able to laugh about it down the road.
Maybe I will start posting again.
