The "big" news: Trump allegedly has divorce papers
Donald Trump is to claim that he has unearthed divorce papers of Michelle Obama and the President, according to a respected financial pundit with links to the tycoon.
. . . The claims about divorce papers have previously been made in a book released earlier this year by author Ed Klein. The White House rubbished the allegations then and claimed Klein had a history of making things up. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2222070/Donald-Trump-reveal-divorce-papers-Michelle-Barack-Obama--claims-respected-financial-pundit.html Oh whoop-de-do. Even if there are any such papers, what long-term couple hasn't had some issues at one time. So. That's it?

Barack and Michelle are still together.
Really, he thinks it's breaking news that they had a rough time over 10 years ago? This coming from the man who has been divorced how many times? |

Yep. Not only is he a moron, he's a freaking hypocrite. If this is it, I doubt anyone will give a crap - except the RWNJ's / Repubs - who won't vote for Obama anyway. Big deal.

8. If that's what he has, releasing them will backfire.
|
Sure, it'll get covered. But it's not going to turn people against the president. Who hasn't had rough times in their relationships? This would just make Obama seem more real. It'd also make Trump and any republicans who jump on board look really bad. Not cool to bring that out into the public when there are kids involved. It'd likely drum up sympathy for the kids, and would likely piss off a lot of moms.

of the fact that they had similar situations in their past and got most of it worked out, on behalf of the wife and kids they love, and KNOW what kind of self-sacrifice is involved for all relavant parties.
If this is what Trump has, it's a can of gasoline. Let the dumb fucker set himself on fire, live in Primetime. Barack and Michelle will bring the girls to roast Marshmallows over the flames, and probably invite most of the WH staff and their kids to the campfire. |

Last edited Wed Oct 24, 2012, 03:37 AM USA/ET - Edit history (2) I know several couples who I consider to have the most solid and positive marriages I've ever run across, and every single one had a point where they were seriously considering splitting up, but decided the marriage was worth fighting for and repairing. I doubt any of them would find the news that Barack and Michelle went through a similar stage to make them anything but more sympathetic.
In fact, the only sort of person who might think otherwise would be a serial monogamist (and not much of a monogamist even then) like The Donald. My only caveat would be if the papers revealed, say, that there was "another woman" involved at the time. But I find it hard to believe that, if Obama had his own "Gennifer Flowers" in his past, it wouldn't have come to light long before the final two weeks of his third race for national office in eight years. |

20. I think the only way the divorce papers could hurt the President
|
is if Michelle claimed domestic violence or mental abuse of some sort--something so heinous that would cause the "gender gap" to close.
That said, I don't see that happening. I don't see Michelle Obama staying with someone who harmed her physically or mentally. I think if Trump comes at the Obama's marriage, we'll see a very fired up First Lady. |

I remember during the 08 election, Michelle spoke about going through a difficult period with the President. She said they worked through it and became even closer. So this is really not news besides the divorce part. Trump is such an asshole.

I agree with those who think that this will backfire on Trump and provide sympathy to the Obama family, assuming the documents don't get into too many specifics.
I don't know much about these kinds of documents but hopefully they go no further in describing problems than generic legal terms like "irreconsiable differences." The less specifics the better obviously and the more people will be able to relate to the situation and their own problems. Both were lawyers so getting legal papers drawn up may not be as significant as it would be for others. |

That Party is STILL looking for a way to get vengeance for FAILING to impeach Clinton for marital infidelity, and then spending the next 10 years getting DESTROYED in the Public Eye by everyone who knows the definitions of the words Projection and Hypocrisy It won't stick. |

Obama and Michelle's marriage was arranged in order to hide Obama's gay love affairs. According to an email I received last night, that's what Trump will reveal as it is mentioned in the divorce papers. And I never question emails including the ones holding my money for me in a Nigerian bank account.

Last edited Wed Oct 24, 2012, 08:15 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Hate The Donald, but if he has actual proof that papers were filed and the administration rubbished this, then Obama may have some 'splaining to do. It should be a total non-issue, and I'm assuming this is made-up bs, because I can't think that Obama would state categorically that the story was a lie if they knew that there were papers floating about that could prove the contrary.
So I think that people would identify with marital strife. But if this somehow turns out to be accurate, there might be some who won't be impressed that the administration was untruthful about it. |

27. So, anyone who has been married
|
for over 45 minutes has thought about divorce. May not actually go as far as filing the papers but, as others have pointed out, ALL and I mean ALL marriages have gone through rough patches. If someone claims theirs hasn't, they're lying or suppressing/ignoring issues.
I think most people's responses will be along the lines of, "And how many times has Trump been married?" The Obamas seem to have a real marriage wherein the Donald is only interested in the trophy wife. One gets too old he just goes out and gets another one. (Like these women would hook up with him if he were living on SS in a trailer park in Barstow.) |
