I've never seen a meteor shower. Even when I do remember and go outside in the wee hours, I don't see anything. That's probably because I live in a city.

(4,788 posts)I saw a few very ephemeral meteor tracks - the 'blink and it's gone' type. I did see the glow of a larger one - the main body was blocked by the house, but the glow was unmistakeable. I almost didn't mind that the dogs were getting me up to go out because of the possibility of seeing meteors.

(22,239 posts)I really would like to see another impressive comet. Hale-Bopp and Hyakutake were nice.
My other half doesn't understand my fascination with the night sky, but meteor showers, conjunctions, comets and aurora are too beautiful for words.

(19,477 posts)I've been fascinated with the night sky since childhood. Got a telescope, stayed up late looking at stuff -- which my mother especially didn't understand. Bought books on the subject. Took astronomy courses in college. Worked in the space program.
How can anyone not be fascinated by all of that?
