Employees of Romney Family's Secret Bank Tied to Fraud, Money Laundering and Drug Cartels

Employees of Romney Family's Secret Bank Tied to Fraud, Money Laundering and Drug Cartels
Sunday, 21 October 2012 09:48
By Gerry Bello and Bob Fitrakis, The Free Press | News Analysis

As previously reported in by the Columbus Free Press, the Romney family, namely Mitt, Ann, G Scott and Tagg Romney, along with Mitt's "6th son" and campaign finance chair have a secretive private equity firm called Solamere Capital Partners. This firms ties to Romney's campaign and bundlers is already well documented, along with its connection to the manufacture and distribution of voting machines. What is not as well documented is a subsidiary of that private equity firm hiring employees of a failed firm tied to a Ponzi scheme that has a long history of money laundering for Latin American drug cartels and to the Iran-Contra scandal.

As reported by ThinkProgress, Solamere Capital Partner's subsidiary Solamere Advisors is a investment advisory group, providing advice to Solamere clients and boosting sales. Would-be corporate pugilist Tagg Romney is a director. According to the New York Times, all but one of its 11 employees came from the Charlotte office of the Stanford Financial Group, the US investment arm of convicted felon R. Allen Stanford's offshore banking and fraud network that comprised a host of companies including the Stanford International Bank, Stanford Capital Management, The Bank of Antigua, Stanford Trust and Stanford Gold and Bullion. Three of these employees, Tim Bambauer, Deems May, and Brandon Phillips, received incentive compensation related to their direct sales of securities linked to a fraud that brought down this banking network.

.........................

Allen Stanford is currently serving a 110-year prison sentence for convictions on 13 counts of fraud. His companies were placed in receivership. $8 billion of Stanford's stolen money has yet to be recovered and the victims are in court to recover those funds and incentive pay bonuses to Stanford employees (including Bambauer, May and Phillips) for fraudulently getting people to invest in an operation that later bilked many of them out of their life's savings.

...................................

Stanford's shady history and criminality did not begin with the fraudulent investments that lead to his downfall, nor was it unknown at the highest level of United State's Government. In a 2006 diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks, the US Ambassador to Antigua advised "Embassy officers do not reach out to Stanford because of the allegations of bribery and money laundering. The Ambassador managed to stay out of any one-on-one photos with Stanford during the breakfast. For his part, Stanford said he preferred to conduct his business without contacting the Embassy, resolving any investment disputes directly with local governments. It is whispered in the region that Stanford facilitates resolution with significant cash contributions."

2. Oh my what blasts from the past! The Romney family is DIRTY AS ALL GET OUT

Good ole Eugene Hausenfaus! Oh that brings back some memories of the Central American war.

background:
His statements -- and a little black book with some very damaging phone numbers in it -- confirmed that the Reagan administration was engaged in a series of criminal acts amounting to illegal war, piracy and murder in attempting to overthrow the legitimate government of Nicaragua. As the tale unwound, it turned out that the merry men from the White House were stealing sophisticated weapons from U.S. military stores, smuggling them to Iran, selling them for exorbitant prices and funneling the money into "deniable" criminal organizations in Central America. A fine mess. Ultimately, President George Bush I, issued a series of pardons to his cronies even though none of them had yet been convicted of crimes -- thus granting a whole raft of unsavory characters, traitors and crooks permanent lifetime "get-out-of-jail-free" cards.

Eugene, however was not one of them. He spent several months in a Nicaraguan prison before being exchanged in a spy-swap.
=============

and Richard Secord too -from Wikipedia:
Major General Richard V. Secord, Retired (born 1932 in LaRue, Ohio), is a United States Air Force officer convicted for his involvement with the Iran-Contra scandal only to be exonerated after a 1990 Supreme Court case found the statute used to be illegal.

He graduated from West Point in 1955 and was then commissioned in the USAF. He was President of Stanford Technology Trading Group Intl., also known as the "Enterprise", a company involved with arms sales to Iran during the Reagan presidency.

Since 2002, retired General Secord has held the position of CEO and Chairman of the Board at Computerized Thermal Imaging.[1][2]

==============

Stanford set up his first offshore bank in 1986, just as Eugene Hausenfaus, shot down while gun running for the CIA in Nicaragua, was being connected to another company named Stanford, in this case the "Stanford Technology Trading Group" owned by Richard Secord, Albert Hakim, and 4 unknown other persons, perhaps including Allen Stanford. According to Iran-Contra Whistleblower Al Martin (Lt. Cmdr. USNR ret.) "Anything with the name Stanford on it belonged to Secord". When finally brought to trial, Stanford employed the same defense attorney, Dick DeGuerin, as Iran-Contra defendant Oliver North.

As the Iran-Contra explosion crippled the CIA's Caribbean bank of choice, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), Stanford's offshore banking empire was using the same techniques and embracing the same moral category of clients. Stanford's banks were known to have laundered money from the Juarez Cartel and alleged to have done so earlier for the Medellin Cartel, and one of his private planes has been seized by the Mexican government in a drug case.

...they have to do is get him in the door. Once they do that, all chips fall into place.

THINK IRAQ: the powers that be knew that all they had to do was set the invasion in motion. Once American soldiers landed, the rest of the chips would fall into place. Once we had firmly landed, John and Jane Q. Public started freaking because there did not seem to be an exit strategy.

That's because they were not planning on us leaving.

If $omney wins, the house and senate will likely follow. No divided government, ergo, no oversight or allegations of wrongdoing.

12. Anyone watching the 60 Minutes piece a couple weeks ago

saw the Mexican romneys living on a beautiful compound in the middle of an
area rife with drug cartels and murders and somehow they live unscathed and
in the lap of luxury. The entire piece reeked to high heaven. The locals looked at
them with contempt and we were lead to believe they were protected by a few
Mexican security guards driving around in a Humvee type vehicle.

eventually, somebody will write a book. Everyone will get pissed. There will be a demand for an investigation.

President issues a pardon. A whole lot of political capital expended for the sake of raw greed too close to power.

One of the best part of Obama has been the total lack of any crimes. It's been smooth sailing, pretty nice.

It needs some sort of infographic to make it more easily digestible for the low info. voters.

Thanks for sharing.
