North Denver: Bush depression train replaced with Obama Solar Farm

Nothing tells how different it is now compared to four years ago than looking out the front door. Then it was the bush depression train while now, they are building a solar farm.

Four years ago, all I could see was the ugly graffiti-surfaced empty box cars of the bush depression train. It was terrible because it blocked the view of the mountains for many people in the northern part of Thornton, CO. There were miles of this train in front of my home and the media said that there were 500 miles of empty railroad cars just sitting on abandoned tracks across the western U.S. During the bush depression, no one could borrow money to purchase goods so the trains were not needed to deliver those goods.

A few weeks ago, they began construction of this solar farm on land adjacent to where the bush depression train once sat. So instead of being unproductive, this land will provide energy for Coloradoans. I see jobs: those who built the solar panels and those who have been installing the solar panels. Additionally, there are the jobs that can be produced as a result of more energy being available. Just another sign that things have gotten better with Obama.

(here are the county meeting minutes describing the solar farm—see pages 5-9.
