1 Very good reason West Virginia is a Red (Republican) state

West Virginia has 3 Congressional Districts and its 2 Senators, for 5 Electoral Votes. There are 55 Counties in West Virginia, of them 25 do not have a Democratic Party Office. A Party can not win a state if it makes little to no effort to do so.

solid south thing after the Civil Rights act. I actually think Robert Byrd's history with the Klan may have actually helped him stay in office so long. They are good people, they just don't trust outsiders or anyone "different" from themselves. A couple weeks ago I took a trip to California. They don't ask if it was nice, the first thing they come up with is something about all the gays in San Francisco and Nancy Pelosi.
