On Morning Joe, Scarborough was saying how Obama has no plan to get the economy going.
Kerry soundly destroyed that talking point. Called out the Jobs Bill, the Tax/Deficit $4 trillion plan, showed that Obama talked about it last night and that the Economy is in full recovery. Jobs numbers best in 4 or more years, Stock market at record highs, gov't spending at all time low.
Joe is now trying to change the topic to Libya. LOL.

(42,770 posts)Waiting for Obama last night to say these exact things...all the good economic signs. Why doesn't he? Again he let mitt tick off all the negatives and no positives

(13,992 posts)If he talks about the positives too much (and he did a little) it sounds like he's blind to the fact that things aren't what they should be.
That being said, in his stump speeches, Obama routinely draws the distinction between where we are and where we could be if the Republicans would stop blocking progress. He didn't really do that last night.
But, then again, that's another tightrope. If he talks too much about obstructionism in Congress, then it sets up Romney to talk about how much easier it will be to get things done with a Republican in the White House.
Obama is modulating in the debates, and giving the live crowds the red meat.

(42,770 posts)A very bad thing for people who are worried that Obama can not fix things. He needs to say that jobs lag in a recovery. There are so many signs of things getting better (insert Kerry points)

(10,499 posts)it had been intentional as Obama wasn't missing much else, I thought about all of the people thinking of the gridlock. Obviously, it should not be a reason for people b/c then it only encourages the gridlock. If the media would hammer the Repugs on it to not make it worthwhile, it would stop! I wish it would work for him to come out and push for us to give him the House and a filibuster proof Senate!

(5,141 posts)Here I am, every day, watching and yelling at the teevee. I try to watch Bill Press but Current has too many commercial breaks then Bill does commercials on top of it. I'm opening a business soon that will keep me very busy at this time of the morning, so at least I have that going for me.
But yes, Kerry took idiot Joe down. It was good to see. I changed channels when Jindal came on.

(34,521 posts)It seems like it's 1 or 2 callers, 10 minutes of commercials, a short guest spot, 10 minutes of commercials, more commercials, top of the hour news then more commercials. Arrgh!
dorkzilla
(5,141 posts)Today was a perfect example of the commercial bombs...loooooong break, then when the show comes back on Bill does a spot for ancestry.com. Spends the same amount of time interviewing his guest (very brief) then back to another commercial break. Maddening!

(45,319 posts)they can get by with fewer cut away ads...each time you see 'Starbucks' or 'Morning Joe' which is also the name of Starbucks's themed grind-the sell bags of 'Morning Joe' you are seeing a commercial. Basically the entire show is one long ad for a product that shares it's name with the show, a direct sponsorship much like the old days of tv and radio in which you'd have 'the Gillette Hour' and such. Joe's show is the Starbuck's Hour. Constant, unrelenting branding of their 'synergistic' products...barf, yes I say barf.

(5,141 posts)There's something about commercials that's so damned jarring, especially when they come so quickly and loudly. I think my perception in that regard is augmented by my proclivity to watch a lot of PBS, which has been a lifelong habit/love.

(174 posts)You made Joe look like an fool. Imagine where America would be if that Republican Bastard Ohio Secretary of State kept all those people from having their votes cast or counted in Ohio in 2004. What Ken Blackwell did to America is a thousand times worse than what Benedict Arnold did.

Republicans Are A Disease.
Period.
You too Joe. I watch your show Joe with your fantasy economics included.

(174 posts)You and Kerry were talking about the debate and taxes. Maybe if we talked about taxing the 21 to 31 trillion dollars the wealthy have stashed in Switzerland or the Caymen Islands we could create some jobs.

Or force companies to spend some of the 5 to 8 trillion dollars they have on their companies balance sheets or tax it by 50% per year if not spent in 2 years investing in AMERICA.
Talk about creating jobs......
America has been suffering from "Voodoo Economics" for 30 years and working families are getting crushed. How easy is it to raise kids on a Taco Bell salary?

(71,611 posts)For nearly anyone, having an eponymous TV show would be more than enough, even a burden, for an out-sized ego. Not the Morning Joke. EVERYTHING has to be about HIM ... what HE said, what HE thought. It's the subhead if not the headline of EVERY segment. He's the frat boy with the best collection of songs and the best tickets to the big games, surrounding himself with subservient ego-feeding acoplytes, including the masochistic 'sweetheart' of the fraternity who loves rough sex and having herself covered with excrement.
The sick shit-banquet was beating the tom-tom of how, while Obama did ... just ... OK ... he didn't really do all that well. But if ANYTHING betrayed the LIE in that narrative it was the funereal mood of the show .... actually in mourning for their addiction in feeding on the over-wrought narrative of Obama's (fictitious) "failures."
The Morning Joke is political porn ... mal-formed codependent 'personalities' posturing in puerile punditry.

Then of course Joe Scar agreed with him.
WTF...this is their script and its sounds like something Gillespie would have given out for talking point
I have not been watching Morning Joe for a while and made the mistake of watching 5 minutes this morning..I need to learn it does nothing to help keep my blood pressure down..

I immediately turned it off in disgust.

(6,994 posts)and he may make a comment favoring Obama.....then they go to a commercial and when they come back the guy is completely opposite..Its like during the break they get a call or text telling them to say this or that because usually they will say just the opposite after the break...All the righwing nuts have is talking points..no facts..If the undecided believes their rhetoric then they are Rmoney supporters in the first place and should never be classified as "undecided"

(8,377 posts)New housing reports this morning are very good -- and that is a major part of the economy that has essentially been shut down. If housing kicks in solidly, we'll start to see monthly jobs numbers in the 200K range. And the nice thing about housing is that Romney and friends cannot outsource those jobs.
I am surprised that Obama didn't really mention the do-nothing Congress. Obviously this is a strategic decision because Biden didn't go there either. Personally I'd like to see him say "The stimulus would have bee at least 70% more effective if I didn't have to give up 40% of it to the same old trickle-down nonsense that Republicans in Congress insisted on. At every step of the way, the Republicans in Congress have blocked this recovery, by delaying the FAA bill costing tens of thousands of jobs, delaying the transportation bill almost a year losing hundreds of thousands of jobs, and by not acting on the jobs and infrastructure bill that has been stuck in the Republican Congress for 13 months now. You need to give me a Congress that will work for you, not a Congress that will automatically try to block everything -- even their own ideas."
I'm sure they have gamed that out and they must have decided that had the risk of over-playing his hand.
