This guy did a very amazing thing with his kindness and a pair of bolt cutters. It strikes me as odd that while wearing not one peace of safety equipment, this man can totally free a wild moose who could kill him in any number of ways. Contrast this to our police officers and the fancy homeland security riot gear that they use to walk through crowds of men, women and children. Hats off to this fine man.

as he should. It was severely stressed, winded and tired, which helped calm him so the ranger could get in close. If I was in the ranger's shoes, that kind of event would make me feel great for a very very long time.

I was approaching Tok, AK on a winter day all alone on the road coming from Gulkana, and came over a rise to find 3 moose on their front knees with their butts in the air facing my windshield. They were licking some road salt that accumulated along the centerline of the road, having a good old time. After about 15 minutes of watching, I just rolled by them as they licked away. Of course, the disposable camera I had with me had no film left to record the shot, but in my memory I still see 3 moose "mooning" me.

Moose are cool.

It makes my day when real people are shown doing really nice things. And when real nice people call others to help a wild animal out if they're afraid to.

Kindness to animals is a real tell. Only good people are kind to animals.

I've spent a lot of time traveling and visiting really awesome natural public places, and Government Workers in these areas rock!

When private contractors started taking over state and federal campgrounds during the Reagan administration these places started going downhill immediately, and got more expensive at the same time.

The forest service, etc folks are way more knowledgeable and helpful and back when this rotten effort at privatization began I even wrote several letters to state and fed congress critters urging them to stop the privatization of our public wild lands.
