Why the [blank] do comedians tell the truth?
Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert... famous in the USA for telling the truth in a funny way.
On BBC Radio 4, it's the News Quiz, where four comedians are on a "gameshow" and asked various questions about the news. It is of course mainly focused on the main news stories of importance in the UK. The weekly Podcast can be found here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/fricomedy
Ed Milliband was in the news since he was speaking at the Labour Party conference and he was speaking a fair bit about the "One Nation" idea.
Susan Calman made a point: "But it's not a new idea this One Nation thing. My favourite politician of recent times, Sarah Palin, you may remember her, embarked on a One Nation bus tour in America. I just thought perhaps that this is quite frightening that Ed Milliband has been surfing the net and that Palin has got a lot of good ideas".
Hugo Rifkind (I think) chimed in "It's highly absurd, this Sarah Palin and One Nation bus ... she's from Alaska and she's got to go through another nation".
Francesca Martinez then followed up "We bash America quite a lot but we've got to give them credit. They do elect a lot of disabled people. Who would have thought they'd be that liberal?"
Now I wonder what political party Francesca may be referring to... hmmm??? Perhaps being a New Republican (aka Tea Party) is a disability? The New Republicans of the US - the gift that keeps on giving. They keep comedians the world very well employed, supplying them with an abundance of hilarious material. They are job builders - global job builders! Not a whole abundance of jobs but the world is laughing at their expense.
