Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region Forumsbloomberg is reporting the conspiracy theory going around regarding the job numbers. They just read
a twitter from jack welch saying "they" fixed the number, bureau of labor statistics. They now are having a person on saying that there is no conspiracy, and related how nixon thought the number was also fixed by the bureau of labor statistics because nixon thought there were too many Jews in the labor department. Of course nixon was republican.
The truth is the report was the right direction, and it wasn't fixed.
The republican party is a real disgrace, and their racist heads are going to explode when Obama and the Democrats win

(53,032 posts)Nothing is more ridiculous than when privileged men like Welch and Romney talk like they are underemployed white men without an educated. That's what Romney did in his 47% comment and his remark that it would be easier to win the election if he had been born in Mexico. And then is precisely what Welch is doing here. They play into the basest elements of our society.

ETA: Rick Santelli, the guy whose rant is the official beginning of the Teabaggers, has weighed in as well. Although this conspiracy movement is quickly getting to the "just asking questions" posture.

(2,711 posts)one would do well to bear in mind that the percentage of Americans employed in the construction trades is far, far, far less than the BLS model assumes.
And accordingly, BLS seasonal adjustments are a bit goofy at times.

(92,190 posts)methodology, right or wrong that has been used. Yes, revision do happen, that is part of the methodology, but people working at the BLS are NOT manipulating the figures for political reason. Not everyone is a Democrat at the BLS
Also, the trend in general has been the right direction. Still not great, but the right direction
