So the last 24 hours has been filled with wailers, teeth gnashers, and whistlers past the graveyard.

Last night DU went from one extreme to the other, with those posting at either end of the spectrum being sure in their hearts that their opinion of last night's debate was the "spot on" one.

No one was a troll last night for posting their disappointment, and no one passed the purity test by whistling past the graveyard. Both groups should stop patting themselves on the back; There was no election yesterday that I know of.

I'm seeing things line up here at DU as if the General Election is a "best of three" proposition as far as the debates are concerned. Here's my take on it... of the people who watched the debate last night, 99% already had their minds made up, and I saw nothing from either President Obama or Candidate Romney that would sway even 0.001% to change. My guess is that the next two will be more of the same, and I'll bet here and now the TV ratings they get will bear that out.

This, too, shall pass. Fuck the blink rate, FUCK the body language interpreters, fuck the speaking time, and fuck the pundits.

We shall vote, and in the end the candidate with the coolest walk will win. I fail to see why everyone is so worried.

romney

Of course for quite sometime the media's insights have been mostly wrong

In spite of what they said, there were no WMDs

bush did lie,

the press were complicit in outing a CIA agent

The economy was not doing well before the financial meltdown, no matter what they said

Gabby Giffords is alive

The ACA act is the law

Obama WILL WIN THE ELECTION

and the media will still be a bunch whores the day after we win the election

Your speculation that only 1 percent of the 67 million that tuned in already hadn't already made up their minds is just that -- speculation. It is far more likely that the audience included several times that many who haven't irrevocably made up their minds, but may be leaning one way or the other. Fortunately, some of these may may still not have made a final decision. And your .001 figure, which amounts to fewer than 700 voters out of 68 million, is beyond speculation. Its just silly.

The simple fact is that the election wasn't decided last night. But its also true that the President missed an opportunity to put Romney in a deeper hole than the one he had dug for himself with his mishandled campaign. And anyone who thinks that the outcome, and media reaction to last night's campaign is something that the Obama campaign wanted has never worked in the upper reaches of a campaign. No candidate ever wants to see his or her momentum slow or for his or her opponent to stop bleeding. For the moment, that is what happened. But its just a moment in a campaign, not the beginning or the end.

You are thinking logical.. That is admirable, wonderful, and great.

Americans are stupid, and the media keeps them stupid, and they will go into overdrive trying to make Mitt alive so they can keep feeding the stupidity.

That is my concern. Yes, I feel Obama could have done better. I think that if he wins, he needs to throw out every advisor he has had, but as far as what a debate should be, he did his job. His problem is, he does not realize the stpuidity of the nation he runs, and needs to adjust to it, the way Clinton did.
