I live next to this school. The debate is going on down the street from my house. It is the snotty white preppy kid school. Generally speaking, the only minorities are rich Chinese and Middle Eastern students.
The only other folks there are hard working kids who managed to get a scholarship.
In other words, this school is the 1%. Remember that tonight as you watch.

(297,188 posts)Oh well, we couldn't expect mitt to be a school for middle class students for his first presidential debate, now could we?

(19,475 posts)Don't be misled by skin color. Unless things have changed because of the recession, a very high percentage of DU students are there on scholarships.
The school had a huge endowment. That lost a lot of value in the recession, but I think that what I said above still applies.

(1,555 posts)I went back in my mid-30's as an undergrad at The Women's College, a full part of DU that provides scholarships for nearly 75% of their attendees, many whom are disadvantaged, minority and/or economically challenged. Did you know about that part of DU - if not, then familiarize yourself with http://www.womenscollege.du.edu/
After I achieved my undergrad degree, I attended University College at The University of Denver, and UCOL is a program geared for working and non-traditional students - a completely different population than those whom you disdain with the BMWs and their snotty attitudes. Believe it or not, some of those snotty rich kids help subsidize The Women's College and University College programs; were you even aware of how that all worked? Or were you more interested in getting in a cheap jab at the school holding the debate, chosen by an outside body - the Presidential Commission on Debates? Bitterness and jealously are not attractive traits when doing a blanket generalization of something you know nothing about.
While I think we all here at DU have a common goal and purpose, there's no need to a snotty sally and thoroughly tear down a body whom you clearly haven't researched thoroughly before your nasty, one-sided diatribe.
