A big story about to get a lot bigger: Republican voter registration fraud

Republicans Fire Their Voter-Registration Firm After Officials Question Forms

Republicans have fired the firm they had employed to register voters in battleground states.

After Florida election officials said they received faulty voter-registration forms, the Republican National Committee said it had severed ties with Strategic Allied Consulting, a voter-registration firm that was handling GOP registration efforts in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, and Virginia – all key swing states in the presidential election.

“We have zero tolerance for any threat to the integrity of elections,” said RNC communications director Sean Spicer. “When we were informed of an alleged incident, we immediately cut all ties to the company.”

Voter fraud has long been a charge conservatives have lodged against Democrats. During the 2008 election cycle, Republicans accused the since-disbanded group ACORN of falsifying forms.

Voter registration problems widening in Florida

By GARY FINEOUT, Associated Press – 47 minutes ago

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — What first appeared to be an isolated problem in one Florida county has now spread statewide, with election officials in at least seven counties informing prosecutors or state election officials about questionable voter registration forms filled out on behalf of the Republican Party of Florida.

State Republican officials already have fired the vendor it had hired to register voters, and on Thursday took the additional step of filing an election fraud complaint against the company, Strategic Allied Consulting, with state officials.

A spokesman for Florida's GOP said the matter was being treated very seriously.

Strategic Allied is run by an Arizona-based man named Nathan Sproul, who has been dogged by charges in the past that his employees destroyed Democratic registrations. No charges were ever filed.

But his reputation is such that when Sproul was tapped by the RNC to do field work this year, officials requested that he set up a new firm to avoid being publicly linked to the past allegations, Sproul told The Times. The firm was set up at a Virginia address, and Sproul does not show up on the corporate paperwork.

And it's not just FL. Romney hired this firm to do voter registration in 7 battleground states.

3. But they will not succeed anymore than they did in 2008.

Thank goodness the Dems have a great ground game going in those states, much bigger than Mitt's.

I do not think Mitt stands a chance this year, a combination of President Obama's brilliant campaign and Gov. Romney's ineptly run campaign.

I predict some surprises in the EV count Nov 6, in Obama's favor. He is going to turn a red state blue, maybe more than one.

I think the pollsters are being too cautious and are internally seeing a real political change in the making but are reticent to report it without validation. That will come on election day.

like ALEC that come up with all these dirty tricks and I'll bet a dime to a donut they are tax-free organizations. They should be investigated, as well as some of these churches that are politically active.

This registration fiasco cannot be allowed to fade into the sunset. Isn't this a federal offense.

5. Because it's not, under the law, a criminal organization

Is there corruption within the republican party? Sure. Is there also corruption within the Democratic Party? Er, yes.

You seem to be suggesting that it's a criminal organization under RICO. That's just not accurate.

The Republicans knew exactly who and what they were hiring in the first place and considered it to be a positive job qualification.

How can the GOP get away with this shit without anyone going to jail?

I guess running our elections like a South American banana republic is considered fine nowadays.
