Mitt Romney repeated his claim that he is not running on Ryan's budget in an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" that aired Sunday night, saying that he's "the guy running for president" and that he has his own plan.
Romney's comment came in response to a question from CBS' Scott Pelley about the $716 billion in Medicare cuts that are in both President Obama's health-care reform law and Paul Ryan's budget, but that Romney has promised to repeal.
"He was going to use that money to reduce the budget deficit," Romney said. "Im putting it back into the Medicare and Im the guy running for president, not him."
Paul Ryan also mentioned his budget plan in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published Sunday. In contrast to Romney, Ryan said his budget is evidence that Romney is willing to put "specifics out there."

(1,185 posts)and Paul Ryan, without his wonky, intelligent, nifty little scam thingy that passes as a Budget Plan, is just pretty much good hair and an empty suit. Mitt can't fire him, so the next closest thing is to cut him off as irrelevant.
He has been summarily dismissed from the royal house...like a landscaper or cook or butler...back to where came from...on the government dole.
Have a feeling Mr. Ryan will spend a lot of time campaigning in Wisconsin so he can keep his day job.

(111,255 posts)so not running on it is disingenuous, at best.
Pelley is such a wimp! Romney should have been called on every other sentence out of his lying mouth.

(24,411 posts)We all know that the GOP king pins insisted on Ryan being next to Romney. Romney is a moderate and they all know it. They wanted a hard-right wackaloon, Grover-Norquist fan on the ticket with him. Cheney chimed in and said that he thought Paul Ryan was one of the smartest men that he'd ever met and he also said, "I worship the ground Paul Ryan walks on."
This was an installation, much like the GOP installed Cheney into Bush's world, "Hold on their little buddy...you'll be President, but this guy is really going to be running things...with us."
Now Ryan is thumbing his nose at the crazy contingent in his party. He's gone rogue folks. I think he's coming unhinged. He's operating on ego alone now. The debates will be the Honey Boo Boo of politics.
Look out...it's Romney unleashed!

(59 posts)This two guys better get on the same page. Rebutting claims that Romney has not been specific on his vision, he claimed Ryan just said that the very fact the Romney picked him was proof that he was specific. So doesn't that mean Ryan believes Romney is running on the Ryan budget?!
"[H]is very selection of me as his running mate, the guy with all the specifics, who's put out all these solutions on the table," Ryan said, "shows you very clearly Mitt Romney's not afraid of making big decisions, making tough decisions, putting specifics out there."

(19,326 posts)I couldn't believe my freaking ears.
He's basically NOW saying he "won't change ANYthing" with SS or Medicare,
except to "make sure the rich get less, and everyone else gets MORE" of
both SS money and Medicare benefits.
He barely parenthetically mumbled something under his breath about "down
the road" there "may" be some changes for younger people.
My jaw dropped like a rock.
I certainly hope and trust Obama to have some fresh (like within past 2 months)
quotes to hold up next to these newly fabricated lies, desperately trying to
salvage the Senior vote.

(54,003 posts)The phrasing was a little shocking. Romney is often verbally inelegant when nuance is called for. That's just reason 436 why he'd make a crappy president. That said, he wasn't exactly leaving Ryan dangling out on his own or blaming Ryan for something. Ryan himself has often made the same point--Mitt's the guy who won the nomination and Ryan (or any veep nominee) is only coming along as an understudy for Number One's script. That's less than a betrayal, which is the connotation of "T.U.T.B."

(14,531 posts)can't get ryan to stop it and get on the same page as him; how can rMoney get China to?
rMoney says his budget plan is different than Lyan's, yet every chance Lyan gets he touts his budget plan as a reason to vote for rMoney.
Obama takes 716 billion of waste, fraud and abuse from Medicare, rMoney promises to repeal that and put the waste fraud and abuse back into Medicare.
