Romney on GMA "I Plan on Pulling a Palin During Debates"

by TeamSarah4Choice

Remember during the debate between Vice President Biden and that half-wit from Alaska, Sarah Palin, where she was so clueless and unable to answer questions, she finally said she would not answer the questions, but would talk about what 'she' wanted to talk about?

PALIN: ... And I may not answer the questions the way that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also.

VP Debate, October 2, 2008 Transcript

Mitt Romney tee'd up his scheme to pull a Palin during the Presidential Debates and he told Good Morning America that he will spend the Debates talking about what he wants to talk about and not answering the questions.
ROMNEY: ‘Well, am I going to spend my time correcting things that aren’t quite accurate? Or am I going to spend my time talking about the things I want to talk about?'”

Another thing I've noticed. Someone must have told Romney and Ryan to "put their left hand in their pocket -- you know to 'look' cool." I noticed during the Primary Debates, Romney would stick his left hand in his pocket, you know to give the appearance of being 'cool.'

Then, yesterday, when the Press was following Ryan on Capital Hill, he was walking with his left hand in his pocket the whole time.

In my opinion, both Romney and Ryan look very uncomfortable trying to 'appear' cool -- since neither one are cool and both are as rigid as a board.

Anyway, spread the word, Romney admits he'll pull a Palin during the Debates #Romneystrength.

Updated to add:

Hahahahahaha: Mitt Romney says he's afraid Obama will lie to win debates

by Jed Lewison

Mitt Romney says his biggest challenge in the debates will be figuring out how to respond to all the lies he believes will be coming at him from President Obama:

“I think the challenge that I’ll have in the debate is that the president tends to, how shall I say it, to say things that aren’t true,” Romney said. “I’ve looked at prior debates. And in that kind of case, it’s difficult to say, ‘Well, am I going to spend my time correcting things that aren’t quite accurate? Or am I going to spend my time talking about the things I want to talk about?”

Talk about a case of projection. I mean, Mitt Romney has spent half this campaign relaying dispatches from the United States of His Imagination ... and he's spent the other half furiously twisting the dials of his Etch A Sketch.

But even if Mitt Romney were the Honest Abe of presidential candidates, this is really not something over which he need clutch any pearls. This is a debate, not a convention. Romney will be standing right next to President Obama, and he'll have a microphone in front of his mouth—not a ball gag. If the president—or one of the debate moderators—says something that Romney thinks isn't true, he can correct the record, and he can do it on the spot.

I'll guarantee you that's exactly what President Obama will do when Mitt Romney peddles lies and falsehoods. And I'll also guarantee he'll spend a lot more time correcting Romney's untruths than the other way around.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/14/1131768/-Hahahahahaha-Mitt-Romney-says-he-s-afraid-Obama-will-lie-to-win-debates

Apparently, Mitt wants to debate the chair, aka invisible Obama.

they need to press him to answer the question. They need to follow-up and get him to talk not just spout off what he wants to. That's not a debate. That's a speech.

President Obama needs to say things - like "Well my opponent here won't answer the question." or "My opponent didn't answer your question - perhaps he doesn't have an answer or he doesn't want to let the American People know that what his answer is wouldn't be palatable to the them."

Don't let Rmoney get away with any more stonewalling or salad talking. We really don't know much about Rmoney and what he stands for and what he would do if he won the presidency. Probably the least known candidate to ever run for the presidency.

Obama should say - "Well Mr. Rmoney - are you running for the presidency or from the presidency?" "A President needs to deal with tough subjects and situations and if you can't even answer a question in a debate - what kind of president will you be."

Put Rmoney's feet to the fire. Get him riled up. Get him talking gibberish. Get him contradicting himself. Get him to smirk and make that nervous laugh when he's cornered. Get him to bet you $10,000.00.

Palin was not running for president, which is why she got away with evading questions (although she still looked like an incompetent fool). For a presidential candidate, this will not work. He might get away with it for one question, but a whole debate - never.

Add to that the fact that Republican men are hypnotized by her, and she can pull off a word-salad rant they see and hear, with their own eyes and ears, but believe to be brilliant. Willard doesn't have that advantage. It's going to be painful to watch him gibber.

Even David Gregory would have trouble justifying that as "debate".

Wait and see, the story that Ryan will "wipe the floor with Biden" will also be getting switched to a similar "Never mind questions, I've got talking points" narrative soon enough.

All those two have is the hope that they can paint themselves as some kind of plucky underdogs.

Sorry, but he deserves a kick in the teeth. The arrogance of this man is so ugly. This is why he's not relatable, because his arrogance and hubris is so over the top that he seems inhuman.

Yes, Mittens--we know you don't plan to answer the questions--because you can't. Because all you know how to do is regurgitate your memorized talking points then smile like a constipated anchorman after you're done talking. We get that you won't be addressing questions or statements that you have no idea how to answer--because you are a complete toolbag.

Romney used this tactic during this dinner-theater "press conference." A press member asked him a very legitimate question, "Do you wish that you have avoided making comments about Libya until later, since you found out later that four American diplomats had been murdered." His answer: "Oh I'm not going to get into hypotheticals." Stupid deflection on the ONE question that everyone wants an answer too.

What a complete f'n idiot.

I will say, it was nice of Mittens Mcblunderboy to come out and publicly state what his debate strategy is. I am sure that helps Obama to formulate his own strategy. I'm no debate coach, but I think a nice zinger, in anticipation of Mr. Anchorman just spewing memorized bits, would work well for Obama, "I see that you're not addressing several points that have been made tonight, Mr. Romney, and instead you are giving us canned, rehearsed soundbytes crafted by your handlers. This is not a debate. This is not healthy discourse. And if you can't even handle a serious debate and answer basic questions for the American people--how could you possibly handle the rigors of foreign-policy negotiations and the complexity of communications with Congress? It's time to get real, Mr. Romney--and get your frickin hand out of your left pocket. Everyone knows that you are not cool."

That would cost him my 88-year-old mother's vote, if she ever thought about voting for him.

My mother hated seeing men with their hand in their pants pocket. Because of that, you'll never see me doing that.

A candidate whose main criticism from the American people is he refuses to answer questions about what he will do as president... has made it his stated intention to not answer questions in debate but to talk about the same old shit he's been talking about that has turned off the American people in the first place? Yeah...... that'll work... doubling down on bad ideas seems to be the only thing Romney's good at.

He thought that he could sail through this election just by virtue of not being Obama... he'd never have to stand up for himself or his record or be questioned about what he would do as POTUS... and now that strategy has backfired to the point that a lot of swing voters look like they'll go with Obama just because he's NOT ROMNEY!

This is so crazy.

I think what romney is setting up is the expectation that no one will challenge HIS lies ... "Hey, no fair ... why are you challenging my lies; I didn't challenge your's!"
