I just posted this on Facebook. I wonder if I'll hear from my brother, SIL, or any of my nieces or nephews in "that" segment of the family....
To my Mormon relatives and friends. I know you are not all going to vote for Romney, but I'm sure that some of you are. I'm sure it would be cool for your church if the White Horse Prophecy came true. But Mitt Romney is not your hero. He is taking advantage of your longing for this prophecy to be fulfilled; please, please, please look at the man objectively. He is a craven opportunist who cares only about making and hoarding money. He really doesn't have a spiritual core, or an ethical heart. I look at him and listen to him and I see and hear Frank Burns from M*A*S*H. Can you not see that? I don't expect you to vote for Obama (although that would be very cool), but please learn as much as you can about Mitt Romney (use lots of different sources so you'll know it's not simply "Liberal propaganda" before you cast a vote for him. If you care about the world we're leaving to our kids and grandkids, please do this research. And please don't reply with "Obama's just as bad, or worse." I'm talking about the character and candidacy of Mitt Romney; this isn't about President Obama. Even though you and I don't share a religion or a political party, we are relatives or friends (or both), and we are all American citizens.

(2 posts)For anyone to take your post seriously, you need to actually research the validity of the White Horse Prophecy.
You do know it has been thoroughly disavowed by the Church, right? Clear back in the early 1900's, it was put to rest.
In General Conference in October 1918 Joseph F Smith made the following comments:
"The ridiculous story about the "red horse," and "the black horse," and "the white horse," and a lot of trash that has been circulated about and printed and sent around as a great revelation given by the Prophet Joseph Smith, is a matter that was gotten up, I understand, some ten years after the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith, by two of our brethren who put together some broken sentences from the Prophet that they may have heard from time to time, and formulated this so-called revelation out of it, and it was never spoken by the prophet in the manner in which they have put it forth. It is simply false; that is all there is to it."
What you need to know learn and research, in order to have any legitimate discussion, is the difference between the WHP and the teaching that it borrowed from, which is most definitely taught and accepted doctrine.
The Constitution hanging by a thread and LDS (AMONG THOSE) stepping in to save it. That part is true, and is the only accepted teaching, from which the fake WHP borrowed from.
Hope that helps you. I'd search out the difference before you continue in your thread, but that's just my advice to you.

(102 posts)They have an automatic shutdown button when it comes to anything the percieve "anti mormon". The cog dis is just too much for them to handle. I've tried reasoning with my father about Mitt...but I can see him shutdown....even though he has said that he is fed up with the people who took over his party, and threatened to change his affiliation before Mitt won the nomination, i think the Mormon thing will take over.
