(50,254 posts)There's a freakish quality about Coulter that makes such comments different than comments about anyone else of her supposed gender. It's not sexism as much as it is...monsterism.
loli phabay
(5,580 posts)and i agree its not sexism its bigotry but as ive seen on every Coulter thread this bigotry seems to be okay and acceptable. Kinka saddens me but i should expect it.

(50,254 posts)The remark was "hidden" although, since the phrase was just used in the title of the post, they didn't technically hide it at all).
It's difficult for me to understand, though, the part of your posts where you seemed to be treating Coulter herself as some sort of a victim-whatever implications the above remark may have had towards the transgendered(and I truly don't think the poster meant any attack on them, fwiw), Coulter herself is a figure towards whom little COULD be said that could truly be unjust unfair. She's not a feminist and has never expressed(nor will she ever express)any solidarity or empathy with women or with transgendered people. She's not on your side. Why would you ever bother having HER back?

(146,288 posts)Is Ann Coulter a monster? Yes, pretty much. But, tying that to jokes about her gender does not insult her. It insults the good transgender people who are being called "monsters" by the implication that transgender status is a monstrous thing.
That's the problem. Ann Coulter deserves to be trashed. Transgender people do not deserve to be tied to her in that way. It is that simple. I wish everyone would understand that. When you call Ann Coulter "Mann" or imply that she isn't a woman, you insult not her, but people who are transgendered.
I wish DUers would knock that off.

It's mainly a shorthand for saying that Ann C. is utterly without humanity.
Comments about her have nothing to do with transgendered people or with any other woman.
MineralMan
(146,288 posts)does indeed affect those who are transgendered. It likens them to the loathable Ann Coulter. It is using being transgendered as an insult. That is the problem.

(50,254 posts)Possibly another term needs to be used...but it will be hard to find one that isn't totally milquetoast and meaningless.
Still, on balance, I suppose we need to try.
I'd prefer to organize a "Trans Against Ann" group, though.

(23,796 posts)1. The two guns found at the scene of Brian Terry's death were purchased months before on the Saturday of the MLK holiday weekend. Sunday the gun shop owner faxed the info about the sale to the ATF office, and Tuesday was when the agents returned and added those guns to the Fast and Furious list. By then the guns were long gone over the border.
So if they hadn't been logged in that database, those guns (assuming one was used to kill Terry) would still have been there to be used that day.
2. Even if those specific guns could have been blocked from crossing the border, all the drug cartel people had to do was just pick up a couple of other guns. Fast and Furious logged about 2,000 weapons total. That's how many are estimated to cross the U.S./Mexican border daily.
Bottom line: it's absolutely insane to blame Fast and Furious for the death of Brian Terry. The GOP's exploitation of this family's grief is despicable.

(50,254 posts)I had no idea he did political cartoons, or that he was a right-wing shitbucket.
I'll never read "The Duplex" again...not only is its creator responsible for this graphic sludge, his drawing style is pretty much a ripoff of J.C. Duffy(who does "The Fusco Brothers" .

(25,541 posts)I have some of his (original) drawings displayed in my office on an entire wall, including the often-reprinted one of Kirk and Spock looking into the Viewscreen on the Enterprise and there's a big bottle of vitamin tablets on the screen. The caption reads: "Captain's Log: Supplemental"
Great stuff...

(50,254 posts)my favorite in that was a cartoon he titled "Having over-rehearsed for one's date with Yolanda"...it showed a man in a smoking jacket holding his intended conquest in his arms and saying "Your eyes are like two limping fools".
